“Fantastic location, great welcome, fabulous food”
Reviewed 2 September 2008

We chose Hen-Dy for a break in April after reading reviews on Trip Advisor and weren't disappointed. We were fortunate to have one of the best rooms, overlooking the promenade. Decoration was tasteful and just that bit special. We booked for evening meals and were so glad we did - not a huge choice but the quality was fantastic. Real home cooking with just a bit of something special each time. David and Louise couldn't have been more helpful in any way.

There's a nice lounge downstairs as well as a bar, so plenty of places just to chill if you don't want to go out or stay in your room.

We booked a second stay on leaving the first time and are sure to be back again before too long.

Could it be improved? A stair lift would allow more elderly and disabled people to share this wonderful haven.

Visited North Wales for the first time over the bank holiday weekend. I read the reviews on this hotel so i gave it a try. when we arrived we were greeted warmly by David & louise, the owners. Was not dissapointed at all and the reviews were spot on. The hotel is situated accross the road from the main pier and promanade in llandudno, everything is no more than 10 min walking distance from this hotel, the local restaurants and bars are round the corner as well as tour buses etc, we had a room at the back of the hotel so no sea view. but you can see the towering great orme so the view is not bad. The rooms and hotel, generally are well maintained clean & comfortable. David & Louise are very friendly and always pleased to help, they gave us great tips on sites to visit both in and around llandudno and beyond. Every morning a very good traditional breakfast is served, with vegetarian options, and i was told the dinners here are equally as good. After a long day of activity we even enjoyed a drink and chat with the owners in their bar. Will i stay again?? if i go back i wont stay anywhere else but the Hen-Dy!!

My wife and I have never visited Llandudno, only passed it on the way to Holyhead for the ferry to Ireland, so at long last we decided to give it a try. We like to think we have high standards in choosing accommodation, as a bad or even mediocre hotel can ruin ones holiday, therefore we chose the Hen-Dy due to the excellent reviews on Trip Adviser so did not expect to be dissappointed, and we certainly weren't! When we arrived David had saved a parking space for us at the front of the hotel where we parked all week, a good start, and from then on things got better and better. We stayed in a delightful room overlooking the promenade, both the breakfasts and evening dinners were excellent with the sort of touches you would expect from an expensive hotel. The meals were something to look forward to every day and we could not believe they were cooked by David, he is a natural. Louise in her front of house role could not do enough for us at meal and other times. In the evenings we had drinks in the bar and were entertained by both David and Louise, enjoying their wit and local gossip! Llandudno has some wonderful walks, which we took advantage of every day and were reluctant to come home, especially looking at that evenings dinner menu which had just been posted in the reception. To conclude, we would strongly recommend the Hen-Dy for an excellent holiday, and it goes without saying that we will stay there again on our next visit to Llandudno.

I only stayed one night whilst away on business but I was immediately made welcome by David and Louise. Hotel was clearly well cared for and my room was perfect - especially the view across the bay. Didn't have dinner as I arrived a bit late, but the menu looked really nice (traditional, not fancy) and smelled great. I hope to take my family some time.

Recently stayed at the hotel with my sister and mum as a surprise treat for my mum's 60th birthday. The hotel rooms were very clean and the views from the front of the hotel were lovely. David & Louise were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. On our behalf they even arranged for some flowers to be placed in my mothers room prior to her arrival. The food was also very good. We are already planning to return again next year. A really special place to stay!

We stayed for two nights at Hen-Dy and enjoyed out stay very much. We were on the top floor and as there was no lift, it made for an interesting walk - I tended to stop in between floors and admire the books in the bokcases along the wall. The proprietors are very gracious and helpful; could not ask for any better hosts.

The breakfasts were great and plentiful. We ate dinner only one night but it was wonderful. Our two older daughters enjoyed playing on the glass chess set in the front lounge overlooking the bay. What a beautiful view.

If we come back this way, we will most likely stay here again.
