“For a family - some great things, some not so great”
Reviewed 28 December 2009

On our visit to the UK with our 2 kids we wanted a central place to stay to visit the castles. The Hen-dy was definitely that. Our kids loved the location. We were able to explore the beach and pier after our days of sightseeing. Though the Hen-dy was our 2nd least favorite place we stayed on our trip, I think that was more to do with the limited choices in North Wales for a family than it was with this B&B. David and Louise (the owners) were friendly enough. The room (on the top floor) was nicely laid out for a family of 4. You enter the small entry hall, and off the hall is a "kids room" with 2 twin beds, a "parents room" with a queen bed, and a bathroom. But the queen bed was very, VERY uncomfortable and the decorating was about 20 years out of date.

I stayed at the hen dy not too long ago, and if i must say so myself it was absolutly fantastic!
the hotel was just what we were looking for and the staff were pleasent and well-mannered. The food was cooked to a spectacular standard, and served promptly.
overall i would highly reccommend this to anyone looking for a cosy stay in Llandudno.
Fantastic stay!!!

Just spent a week stopping in room 7 which was fabulous, amazing views, well equipped, good hospitality tray (with chocolate biscuits, yummy), comfy bed, lovely and warm and spotlessly clean (you usually find some dirty corners in a hotel room but not this one). David and Louise are perfect hosts and made us very welcome. The food is excellent, fresh and well cooked. If you want to eat out elsewhere (they didn't do evening meals every night because of the lack of demand) there are several very good restaurants just around the corner which were recommended by Louise and proved to be excellent (The Queen Victoria and The Seahorse). The tram terminal for The Great Orme is within walking distance (as is the pier) and we were able to park at the back of the hotel for the first couple of days so could just leave our car and explore Llandudno. The car park at the back of the hotel is very small and other days we decided to park on the promenade by the hotel. This wasn't a problem when we were there although I can imagine that it would be in the height of the summer months. You couldn't park for more than 60 minutes between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm but if we went out for the day that wasn't a problem as we usually got back around 4.00 pm. Otherwise you could park further down the promenade and just pay for over 4 hours parking (£1.50 in October).

We were very impressed by Llandudno. It is very well presented, nothing tatty about the place and everyone was so friendly.

We would definitely recommend this hotel. The location is perfect. Lovely to be near the shops and pier. The Great Orme tour bus stop is almost opposite and well worth a trip (£5 for an hour's tour). But most important of all a special thank you to David and Louise for making us so welcome and our stay so enjoyable.

From: Ann and Merfyn Evans Abermorddu

Thanks once again to Louise and David for providing us with another thoroughly enjoyable three day stay.

This is an extremely well run hotel - nothing is too much trouble for the owners - the standard is superior to many of the larger hotels, service is excellent.

Nothing to find fault with the food, service cleanliness and attention to detail is given to every individual , everyone is made very welcome.

Looking forward to our next visit in November

Cannot fault anything- owners work very hard. All of the top marks on trip advisor fully deserved. Anyone rating less than excellent must have 'clicked' on the wrong hotel/guest house for the review as they could not have stayed with Louise and David!!!!! Warm welcome/fantastic food including the sweets by the door!!!!!

If I could rate the Hen-dy higher than 5 stars, I would - mostly because of David and Louise, our amazing hosts. Both were willing to go the extra mile to ensure that their guests have a good time. David acted as a parking valet (being an American, I'm parking challenged in tight spaces), and Louise provided us with books on local history.

Our room was GIGANTIC, with an incredible view of the bay. We were both tempted to just sit and stare for hours. The room was immaculate, and the bed was very comfy.

Breakfasts were always delicious and cooked to order. We also availed ourselves of dinner in the hotel for two of the four nights, after discovering that the meals there were better than in any of the restaurants in Llandudno.

We HIGHLY recommend the Hend-dy.

We have just returned from a stay at this hotel. This was the second and last time, it was so completely different from our first stay. The owners David and Louise did marvelous impressions of Basil Fawlty but without the charm and humor and Morticia Adams but less cheerful. My wife and I have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never had such a miserable reception. We have spent over £1,200 this year at this hotel and won't be spending another penny . If you stay here you can expext to be snapped at and if you are not part of the in crowd treated as a second class citizen and don't expect to get what you booked or paid for as David will change it .

The food was average and I have seen my wife cook for more people and provide more choice of menu without flapping and rushing. Parking is advertised, but it is on a if your face fits or not basis. Could not recommend this hotel any more.
