“Parking a nightmare!”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

We stayed at the Imperial for one night over the bank holday. On arriving there was nowhere to stop to get the bags out of the car to check in. After driving round the block and up and down the promenade for a while, I managed to stop on some double yellow lines nearby just to get the bags out. When I asked one of the staff members they said that I could either keep looking for a space or double park in the car park as it only had 20 spaces or so and was full. When I actually tried to get into the car park, they had parked a car in the entrace to stop people double parking! We checked in and then drove round the town for a while before finally getting a space.

I thought that I might be able to get somewhere nearer later on, but it looks like all the surrounding roads are full of hotel guests cars, as the cars were still there in the morning.

The room was ok. It was a bit small and had a desk, two chairs and a table crammed in that weren't really needed. We did have a balcony, but it only had one outside chair on it!

There was a wedding on that night. About 20 or so of the wedding guests seemed to be permanently smoking right outside the front door, so we had to dodge through a cloud of smoke going in or out of the hotel. This also made the reception smell like an ashtray.

We ate in the bar that evening and the food was quite good. Breakfast was good too.

All in all, the parking was a nightmare and I think we paid about £80 too much for the room. There's plenty of choice in LLandundo and we made the mistake of thinking that paying a high price for a hotel would get us a decent nights stay.

Thank you for your review on your stay August Bank Holiday weekend one of our busiest weekends of the year. We would naturally love to have a large car park because it would make a dramatic difference to all our guests but we are fortunate in that we are one of the few hotels in the centre of the resort to offer any car parking facilities. We find on the whole that guests, and trust you one of these, that had no problem parking on the Promenade.

The Imperial Hotel is situated on the promenade overlooking the bay in Llandudno, we have stayed at the Imp's on occassions for many years now & used this hotel as our afternoon tea & meals base whilst in the resort, what can be better the hotel is just a minute across the road from the sea & views over Llandudno Bay. Bank holiday (August 2014) weekend we took our friends from Hampshire for thier first visit to Llandudno with afternoon tea at the Imperial. Enjoyed!!!

Chantrey’s Restaurant has an à la carte menu & the terrace serves lunches & snacks, for the more hearty full english breakfast is available every morning. For the more energetic the hotel’s fitness centre, which includes a swimming pool, a gym, a steam room, a sauna & a spa bath.
Recommended - yes! - why not!! "Friendly staff - Old world charm - Great Location"
Regards GCD

Room Tip: The sea & views over Llandudno Bay.

Just returned from a Bank Holiday stay at the Imperial in Llandudno. Have visited the hotel before but never stayed there until this weekend. It was pretty much as I was expecting: a little pricey, but very comfortable rooms, good food in the restaurants and friendly staff (especially in the restaurant). The car parking situation can be pot luck, unfortunately, but you will be fine parking on the promenade overnight. My mum used the pool while she was there and enjoyed it, be warned though- there are no changing facilities for hotel guests, so it is best to get changed in your room before hand. When I walked her down to the pool, I found the gym very busy and with plenty of equipment. However, the lesiure attendant was working on his own, which I found odd for a busy Bank Holiday weekend. We eventually found him busy cleaning and he loked riushed off his feet, b ut was very helpful. My mum enjoyed having a sauna and steamroom on hand as well, and the free use of towels was nice touch.
Breakfast was to the usual standard and staff showed a good rapport with the staff. Overall, we would definitely stay here again, great location to visit Llandudno's sights.

We booked here as struggled to get a room elsewhere as we overlapped into the bank holiday weekend. The price is a little on the high side as we need 2 rooms - however we were finally happy with our choice. The family room was a generous size even with 2 cots we had plenty of space. The free wifi is very good & worked well which is essential for us. My daughter used the pool & was happy with her single room. It was a pleasant place for a drink in the evening & found the bar & restaurant staff friendly enough. Parking could be a problem but we were lucky enough to find a place on the street at the side which is free for 90 minutes & finishes at 5.00pm so we were ok there overnight. Next morning I moved to the hotel car park at 10.30 - which is a little small but they will also park your car I believe if you leave your keys with them.

Room Tip: sea views obviously preferred.

I stayed for a few nights with my husband and his family. We found the hotel easy to find and to be in a fantastic spot over looking the promenade. We were slightly disappointed with the parking situation as the hotel car park was full so we had to pay to park and the nearest space was quite a walk away. I totally understand the nature of the area and didn't expect the hotel to have a car park, however, the fact that some guests were able to park for free whilst others had to pay seemed a bit unfair to me. Other than that, our first impression was very good. We received a warm welcome from the staff and found the reception/lounge area to be very pleasant.

The room itself was very spacious and nicely decorated but was slightly tired. It was extremely clean and there were plenty of extras provided in the room. I felt that we had everything which we needed and was particularly pleased that there was wifi. The beds were very comfortable but on the first night, they were not made properly as the sheet was not tucked under. They were for the remainder of our stay so I feel that this was probably a one off.

The hotel is within easy reach of plenty of shops, restaurants and cafés. The pier is a comfortable walk away and the Orme is not much further beyond that. The hotel also has lots of seating in the bar area which overlooks the front and is lovely to people watch from.

Breakfast each morning was always very good. The staff were generally attentive. There was a good selection of fruits, cereals and yogurts. Hot items could be ordered from a menu. It tasted like it was good quality and there was always plenty of choice.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay and found the hotel to be very pleasant and clean. My husband and I are not sure whether we would return as we felt that the rooms were slightly pricey for what they were but there were no problems or issues so we would definitely recommend the hotel to others. Our stay was very nice and we had everything we needed but for me, there was no wow factor but somebody else could feel that there is - my father in law won't stay anywhere else in Llandudno so I think it depends on what you value in a hotel.

Stayed for 1 night in Llandudno. Friendly and helpful. Rooms a little dated but very clean. Plenty of hot water. Good facilities in bedrooms. A perfect base for visiting the many attractions in Llandudno. Recommend the toboggan run up the Great Orm, Pier, Car route round the Great Orm.
