“The 'Imp' Was As Good As Ever”
Reviewed 17 November 2009

We have always stayed at The Imperial whilst in Llandudno. For my birthday weekend however we decided to have a change and stay at the St George.
Having written a review on the experience there l shall not go into any more detail.

The Imperial was as ever excellent. From first appearing at reception the whole service was second to none.
We were very warmly welcomed by the receptionists and shown rooms before we booked.
The executive room we chose on the first floor was very spacious and we were more than happy, it was a very large side sea view room with a very nice bathroom with bath and shower.

The room was ready upon checking in on the Saturday morning at 11am. Hoorah! Time to chill and enjoy the weekend.

It was so nice to see staff that we recognised....Pat who serves morning coffee and lunch is always ready for a chat and she is such a joy to talk to.

Lunchtime food on the terrace was just lovely, so relaxing looking out to sea.

We didn't have dinner here this time, but breakfast was served either in the dining room or on the terrace overlooking the sea, the choice was yours.
Either location was good with first class service and excellent food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay again and would return.

Darling daughter had booked for us to see Status Quo for my birthday.....nice to see that the band were staying at the 'Imp' too.

Good Choice.

Just have to say that we felt the drinks in the bar were a little over the top at £11.50 for a large scotch and a glass of wine.....but that is the only gripe!

We stayed just overnight for a short break with our 2 year old. It is quite an expensive hotel and if you need a third bed rather than a cot you have to pay even more for an executive room so we had a cot and consequently had a small cramped room at the top and back of the hotel. We have stayed here many times over the years and it now has 4 star status as all of the rooms have been nicely revamped. The food is, as usual superb, they have a high quality childrens menu as well and the restaurant isnt too stuffy to take a 2 year old to. The trainee manager was lovely and made a fuss of our daughter and she was really helpful. Some of the other staff didn't understand what we were asking for and had to get someone to come and translate, overall we really enjoyed our short stay

We upgraded to a seaview room and it was worth it. The room was spacious, as was the ensuite. Everyting worked although the TV was tricky to start with.

We had a swim before breakfast and changed in the room as recommended. The pool is a good size squeezed into an area on the gound floor together with a good steam room. a sauna and a spa bath. Helpful staff and at 08.00 not many other users.

Breakfast consists of a buffet for the fruits cereals etc and cooked breakfast made to order. All very nicely done.

Most irritating point on arrival that there was only one tiny awkward place in the small car park. But apart from that a very pleasant stay.

The location is very good, so much better than staying in Conwy since you have the promenade and a Victorian flavor to the area. Staff was very nice, food at bar and resteraunt very good and I got a deal from Expedia for the stay, would return again!

The Imperial is one of the older hotels in Llandudno and - in common with most hotels in the UK these days - employs a significant number of Polish staff. That being said, we found no difficulty whatsoever with comprehension and the staff throughout were delightful.

There’s a nice feel to the place; they haven’t abandoned the original structure and design, and gone the way many modern places have, infusing everything with a sort of post-90s blandness. Instead there’s a feeling of stepping back in time, which is good for those wanting a stress-free stay.

What sets it apart from many places, however, is not simply the spacious rooms, the cleanliness of the place or the great service. The real difference is the hotel entertainment. On Saturday nights, a local studio owner eschews technology and plays the marvellous Bechstein Grand while his fiancee sings. This is a true treat, with sensitive and nostalgic melodies permeating the atmosphere instead of the dreaded boom-box sound from the usual sources.

Unreservedly recommended.

After being disappointed with another hotel that we had booked in Llandudno we needed to find alternative accommodation, lucky for us the Imperial Hotel had a sea front room for us and our Teenager son, it was absolutely lovely, the room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was excellent. the difference between 3 star and four star was well worth it and if we return to Llandudno we will stay there again.

I booked a "free" three night B&B stay using Tesco Tokens. The tone for the stay was set upon arrival when the receptionist offered my daughter a bucket a spade in a choice of colours, a simple and inexpensive gift but one which made us feel very welcome.
The booked room was at the rear of the hotel and was perfectly adequate. However, as I could detect a faint hum from electrical machinery (I suffer from a hearing disorder which makes me sensitive to the hum from air con and refrigeration units) we returned to reception to ask for an alternative. The receptionist was excellent and patiently trawled the hotel with us for the next half hour while I "sound tested" a succession of rooms. Eventually we found a super room on the second floor with a sea view - at a £40 supplement it was a bargain- large, comfortable, bright and most importantly quiet and clean.
Restaurant service was friendly and extremely efficient, and the meals were super; the creme brulee with lavendar shortbread was a delight. My daughter, a real foodie, was impressed with quality and size of the children's portions, no thimble size pots of beans with a few soggy chips here, but a plate full of crispy free range chicken nuggets, real chips and lots of beans; the sausages were also a big hit. On the last day we shared a delicious lunch of Imperial Beef Burger & chips and the Imperial High Tea on the Terrace - at £20 it wasn't much more than the average tasteless pub offering.

We enjoyed the hotel's spa facilities and found lots to do in and around Llandudno; rock pooling and the Welsh Mountain Zoo were big hits. Next time we go I have promised a trip in a speed boat, cable cars and toboggoning! Llandudno itself felt comfortable and safe, probably due to the large number of grandpas and grandmas in evidence everywhere.
On the negative side - well parking is a bit of a pain, particularly when you've borrowed hubby's pride and joy for the trip and he's terrified that it will get scratched or dented. However, I returned it intact so all is well
