we have just returned from a lovely weekend break at the county hotel, my husband, myself and my elderly mother.
the room was lovely room number 204, superior room, sea view, it was very clean, only niggles were the pillows were hard and the bathroom was slightly small, otherwise great with a super sea view.
my mothers room although a sea view room and again very clean, was a little small and needed what i thought updating, i had asked for a shower and not a bath for my mum but was told on arrival that the sea view rooms only had a bath, surely after having paid extra for a seaview room a shower could also be provided as my mother has trouble at her age of getting in and out of the bath.
the food at both breakfast and dinner was plentifull, good choice and well cooked.
i just want to mention our waiter for the weekend Duchan (i think), he was absolutely fantastic and couldnt do enough for us, i have a medical condition where i cannot eat fat and have to have an extremely low fat diet, i did tell the waiter this and he remembered and when i ordered for example roast beef, he removed the yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes and replaced them with new ones and even brought my gravy to the table in a little boat so that i could just have a tiny drop at my choice, and that was without telling him!, he was able to tell me the exact ingredients in my meals so that i could choose, what a credit to the hotel he was!
the only other gripes were that the hotel was very hot and especially in the dining room and i never saw any windows open and also for the size of the hotel, one lift which took only 2 people at a time was not enough
i have travelled extensively and normally stop on 4 & 5 star hotels but i would definately stop here again and am now looking to try another bay hotel
keep up the good work
