Dear Sarah B
Thank you for your review. I am sorry you felt service was very slow but i think having a four course meal served in just over an hour would be quite quick for anyone. Check out time is 10.00 am and your coach was leaving at 11.30 am. It was a beautiful morning on Sunday a lot of guests went for a walk rather than sit in their room until check out. I do wish you had come and asked me if you could of had your room for a little longer it wouldn't of been an issue. Best Wishes Andrea

very helpful and friendly staff, they showed us the room béfore we decided. The room was on the top floor, but there is a lift. The room cost £42 per person with breakfast, but it was a sea front hotel, and we had a great sea view from the room. The room was great, clean bedding, towels and soap provided. Also tea and coffee provided. Tv was quite small. The hotel as a resturant and bar with nightly entertainment. Bar was reasonable priced and open until midnight. Parking is on the roadside, but we had no probs and parked outside the hotel. Parking is £2 for up to 4 hour,or £3 for over 4 hour, and its free parking at night, i think it was 6pm to 10am.The location is within walking distance to all areas. Plenty to do in Llandudno.

Having spent the week end here I found the hotel very clean but very basic. The view from the room was a car park filled with old mattresses and the tv wasn't worth paying the £10.00 deposit for the remote as it was so small. The pillows and duvet were quite thin
Ideally situated on the sea front and a short walk to the town centre which is great as the food and menu choice was very poor and we ended up eating out after the first two meals. Tinned, frozen, poor quality and tiny portions might be ok for the elderly but some people do have taste buds. Everybody we spoke to had the same view and even the waitresses didn't seem surprised when we said we hadn't enjoyed it.
All in all a clean, basic hotel which is in a good location and ideal if you just want somewhere to rest your head at the end of the day.

Room Tip: Pick a room with a sea view and bring your own hair dryer

The hotel has a lovely location on the seafront, just a few minutes stroll from the shops. The welcome was warm and the staff were, for the most part, friendly and helpful. But the hotel is full of contradictions...
Although the rooms (very clean) have obviously been refurbished the furnishing is very basic and cheap. This is probably understandable given that this is one of those old hotels with huge rooms and curtaining the enormous windows alone must cost a fortune. Some small touches could improve comfort: for instance, in the bathroom, apart from a narrow shelf above the sink there was nowhere to put anything; nor were there any hooks on which to hang clothes. The only towel rail was on the wall at the back of the bath, at a level which would have ensured that the towels would easily get wet when using the spray attached to bath taps. And the "shredder wc" made sufficient noise to convince one that a helicopter was lifting off in there!
Obviously efforts have been made to update the property but then the hotel reverts to practices which are reminiscent of childhood stays in boarding houses... there is a £10 refundable deposit for the tv remote control and you have to request a hairdryer at reception. You are not given a front door key so getting in and out of the hotel late or early requires making arrangements at reception.
The food is edible but mainly tinned or frozen; however, given that the additional cost for dinner over and above the b & b price is only £7, you'd hardly expect fine dining!
Despite the attempts to modernise the experience did remind me of English seaside holidays of yesteryear.

Room Tip: Sea view definitely preferable. Due to the large windows rooms on 1st floor on the west side are ve...

Dear Lupabianca Thank you for your review, I don't understand how we are full of contradictions, yes we are going through a refurbishment and we are nowhere near to finishing. It will take another 2- 3 years and by no means has it been cheap. Our bathrooms will be getting a makeover starting in January. With regards to paying a £10.00 deposit for the remote we have had to do this so that we get them back, as they used to go missing before we charged the deposit. Hairdryer being available from reception so that we can put who has borrowed one next to guests room numbers, again to stop them going missing. Mainly tinned & frozen food I beg to differ!!!! We are not trying to be modern as you say, Four Oaks Hotel is a Victorian hotel and we are all very proud with the ongoing refurbishment it can't be done overnight it takes a lot of planning. It's just a shame you couldn't of mentioned any of the above to me during your stay. Best Wishes

I recently spent 5 days at the Four Oaks with a group of ladies from chesire women's section for our annual conference. I must say that we all enjoyed our stay very much, the food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Needless to say we have made a provisional booking for our next conference. My friend and I visited this hotel last weekend as part of a coach trip. What can I say, it's a bit of an enigma. They have tried to bring it up to date, the public rooms are very nice, however, our room (315) had lovely wallpaper but was finished to a poor standard. I felt it was all for the show, with no substance. The tv's are tiny, the paint on our window frame was still tacky and the bathroom basin was cracked, badly finished throughout! They are trying so hard to be contempary, but then revert back to a 70's sitcom/carry on film! Get real managers! Even if we are with a coach party, modern travellers expect to be able to sit for dinner without the rest of their group on their table, especially when most of the dining room is empty. Offering fruit juice or tinned fruit as a starter died with faulty towers, and to use reconstituted frozen fish when you are 100meters from the sea is just laughable! As did my cheese and biscuits... One sliver of coloured cheddar and one of white cheddar is not a cheese selection, and I was worried that the Brie wouldn't be at room temperature!!!! Classic! Infact most of my (enforced) dining companions didn't eat our evening meal and went out and bought food else where! Breakfast was not much better, I have never been served ONE tinned tomato on a full English! Lol! Very scant. And, the hanging baskets by the front door were virtually dead, we all agreed that was a sign of things to come when we arrived. It's sad as they are obviously trying, all be it as cheaply as possible, to improve things, but that prehistoric attitude to customer satisfaction really let's the hotel down. At least the lady who served breakfast asked if everything was ok, the young girl at dinner didn't, although it must have been obvious by the amount of food that was left on the plates. Oh and although my duvet/sheets/towels were spotless, our valances on the bed had some nasty stains! And some of our travellers got a seaview room with no surcharge while we were stuck overlooking the carpark for the same price. All in all a disappointment........a few tweaks and it could be lovely.
