“Fabulous evening great food & service”
Reviewed 20 May 2012 via mobile

A most enjoyable evening from our arrival and drinks at the bar area through to leaving at the end of the evening the service was impeccable. All the staff were courteous and attentive. The dining area itself is a little dated however this is more than made up for by the quality of the food. All the members of our party preferred it to a recent outing to a Michelin starred restaurant. Our only slight gripe would be the steep price of the wine, however this did not spoil a truly lovely evening and we will definitely be returning soon.

Living locally we had heard reasonable reports about the restaurant, I booked for my wife's birthday and went on the Saturday of the bank holidays in may. Drinks were initially served in the lounge, which was ok, usual small hotel lounge area. We then went through to the restaurant, wow what a shock, it is decorated in an Italian landscape mural with mock columns by the door and large floral chandelier. Very outdated and wouldn't have been out of place in the 1970s. Given the gorgeous local landscape nearby and the lovely llandudno promenade, this would have been a better subject and not the outdated decor. Anyway I had finished my drink before going into the restaurant, we had to ask three time for the wine list and at no time did anyone ask if I wanted another drink - very poor! The food was ok for the starter and main course, nothing overly special but nice. Then my desert, an apple tartan! It looked like it had been cooked in a microwave, soggy pastry and an apply that was tough and rubbery VERY DISAPPOINTING - no actual disgraceful for a restaurant which claims awards and charges such prices. Having cooked with Jean Christophe Novelli I know what one should look and taste like, and the one served was terrible! Overall the atmosphere is outdated, the food overpriced, including the wine list, the staff looked and behaved very disinterested and gave the impression that we were more of an inconvenience and the food at best was ok and extremely poor at worst. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, there are better and certainly cheaper restaurants in the area, signatures and the tyddyn llan to name just two.

What a little gem, the food was excellent, the atmosphere is very Poirot goes to Llandudno on his hols (hopefully not to find a murder, but hey whats the chance of that not happening!), with manners and attitudes from the staff which are almost unattainable nowadays. We took our dog and i think she had a better time than we did, nothing was too much trouble and although she wasn't allowed in the bar or the dining area the staff were always popping into the residents lounge to see if we needed anything.

Because I am disabled I have to use the lift and this did give my dog a bit of a complex, she wouldn't go into the bathroom to eat her food or have a drink as it had the same grey coloured flooring as the lift, but we asked the staff for newpapers which we put down to protect the carpet and she ate and drank in the main bedroom, i did wonder if the staff would query this but they were wonderful and so helpful.

I didn't personally have any issues with mobility around the hotel but i am able to walk, if you are a disabled traveller i am sure you will have more probs, the hotel has 3 broad steps at the main entrance, and from the carpark there is one small step, the dining area is small and full of tables, but again i have no doubt that the level of service you will recieve here if you choose to visit means that they would remove a table to allow you access more easily, I also couldn't use the pool as access to the pool is via a ladder rather than a slope or stairs. Really is a super dooper place!

Room Tip: Small hotels often mean small rooms, we upgraded to a small suite and the staff reduced that price f...

The only thing that let it down was the room decor which needed updating - service & food were faultless, and it's very well situated.

Last November we were staying in the area as we were going to a sixties gig at the theatre so we decided to call in at the st tudno for afternoon tea we have stayed here before so we knew that it would be good.
The afternoon tea was out of this world, we had a vast selection of sandwiches, scones jam & cream welsh teacakes followed by cakes to finish off we had a glass of champage each also earl grey tea served in lovely china cups, done the old fashioned way. This hotel is well worth a visit the staff are very friendly and the young girl who looked after us was excellent. The owner of the hotel Mr Martin Bland is a perfectionist no stone is left unturned, thehotel is a great credit to him and his staff.

Room Tip: We have stayed here about three years ago and we had a nice room on the top floor you had everythi...

having stayed before in Nov2011 we new exactly what to expect & where not disappointed, from the moment we arrived, all went smothly until (portugal,s ronaldo look-alike appeared) then every-thing went down hill(only joking).Yes the hotel must be one of the best in Llandudno & over the last 10years we have been coming to stay, this must be some-where if not close to no1.
Although not the cheapest, but as you know you only get what you pay for!!!!!! (i think that deserves a drink when i next arrive) thank-you Martin

Room Tip: we stayed in room 11 very happy with it,but we do not spend much time in there,so the size does not...

We've just arrived back from a wonderful long weekend at the St Tudno. The location of the hotel is perfect; it's right on the sea front and Llandudno is a really lovely town. Our room was Room 10, which has a four poster bed (which I found really comfortable) and was at the back of the hotel. The room was large enough for a couple and our dog and we didn't really miss not having the sea view. We had both afternoon tea and one evening meal at the hotel and the food was really excellent - I recommend eating here if you do stay, although Osbornes next door is also nice.
We were a little bit apprehensive about bringing our dog away with us as we've never done that before and also given that the last couple of reviewers weren't particularly favourable. However, we didn't need to worry as everyone was really welcoming to the dog and we didn't at all feel as though she shouldn't be there (in fact the owner really fussed over her). If you do want to bring a dog, the hotel do ask that you don't leave the dog alone in the room unless it's in a crate, which I think is fair enough both from the point of looking after the room and the dog and also because the staff do go in to turn down the room in the evening. There's also a grassy area at the front of the hotel where the dog can outside to the loo or for a bit of a walk so it's really handy. So, pelase don't let the other reviewers put you off as we had quite a different experience.
The little things make this hotel really stand out from others - the fact that the owner likes to welcome each person to the hotel, the delicious handmade shortbread in your room and the attentive and friendly staff. We can't wait to return.

Room Tip: Room 10 was lovely, v comfortable with a four poster bed
