Let's be clear about it - St Tudno's is a traditional hotel with decore and service in the same vein. So, do not expect contemporary fittings etc.

Having got that out of the way, the hotel is comfortable and friendly. The staff know your name and room number and treat you in a friendly, professional manner, quickly learning your favourite drinks. Food is excellent, with some standout dishes (the beef was amazing) and the restaurant service is prompt and polite.

The hotel has good sea views and whilst the Punch and Judy show on the Prom can be rather loud, the easy access to the Prom (across one not too busy road) is a great plus point.

This is a hotel where you can relax (they even have their own swimming pool) - once you have got over the trauma of parking up - and enjoy both the hotel and the town.

We visited the hotel on the bank holiday weekend for a family occasion (50th Golden Wedding Anniversary) and had the function room (which was the guest sitting room) booked and a three course meal in the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised.

The room we had was just the right size (for eleven people) - it was cosy and had the fire and sofas/armchairs so we could retire there after our meal for a little while and have a drink. Staff were very attentive whilst we were in the function room and kept popping their heads in to ask if wanted more drinks and coffees etc.

The only downside was that the lift was located in the room with us, so at the beginning of the night we kept being interrupted whilst people were being checked in.

The meals we had were gorgeous and well presented and staff had nicely decorated our table for the occasion. Waiting staff were very attentive, but they seemed to outnumber the need early on in the night.

Overall, I would love to maybe go back and spend a night at the hotel too.

We spent a really wonderful weekend at this hotel. The quality of the accommodation, food and service are all truly wonderful. It was also nice that we were able to have our dog with us with his crete located in our room.

The Welsh breakfast makes a great start to the day and we were impressed by the quality of food, presentation and service. In the evenings we had one a la carte meal and one early evening table d'hôte. In both cases we could not fault any aspect of the food or service. The wine list is amazing and gives something for just about every taste with prices from just under £20 per bottle to a top class Bordeaux at close to £1000.

The old style values of quality and service are refreshing to find and we will certainly be back for another visit.

Room Tip: Phone the reception and they are sure to find the perfect room for you. I believe the "Alice Su...

Four of us recently had the excellent 3 courses for £20 menu.
The quality, presentation and taste was excellent and in a very well run and tidy hotel. The young waiting staff were very professional.
Brilliant value for money.

We booked another hotel on line, but once we got to it, not what we wanted. Looked at Grand Hotel-not for us. Found the St Tudno and were very impressed. Owner came out to car to explain parking on street, and low and behold, a car moved out leaving a place for us right in front. Parking is an issue in this town, so beware.

Stayed in Alice suite on front with great view. All personnel were very supportive. Had dinner here, which can take a long time, but for was good.

Do recommend highly.

This is the families 7th time staying at St Tudnos and every year we discuss should we stay somewhere else next year and the answer is always the same, “Absolutely not” As a rule we never stay anywhere twice, it’s a small world after all, but a we just can’t find a single reason to not to stay at the wonderful hotel. Mr Bland and his team are exemplary hosts and the new young awarding winning chiefs are fantastic. Dine here while you can, even if not staying at the hotel, as I am sure you’ll have to pay 3 times the amount to sample their skills in coming years – we certainly hope they are still with St Tudnos next year, I could wax on but wont, simply to conclude with we shall be breaking our never stay anywhere twice rule for the 8th time in 2015.
