“I enjoyed my stay”

My 4 night stay at the Grand was as part of a coach trip. The room was very clean and it had everything I wanted it even had two televisions. We had paid extra for a sea view and it was worth every penny the course across the bay is wonderful. Some people we talked to did not have this and the view from their window was of the rock face opposite the hotel.Breakfast was good but the evening meal left a lot to be desired. I would stay again but only on a half board basis.

me and my fiancé stayed here for my birthday we got it on kgb deals which included 2 nights bed and breakfast and we were not disappointed. the room was spacious and bed comfy that is all u need when u go away but the breakfast was second to none I have stayed at a lot of hotels but the breakfast here should win awards top marks to the chef. we had a few issues when we arrived due to the kgb voucher we forgot but the 2 ladies on the front desk did everything to help us which was really nice of them. If I go back to Llandudno I will stay again. keep up the good work.

Room Tip: one in the front would be nicer on a nice day as the view of the beach would be lovely

The Grand has been around a long time and certainly looks tired and in desperate need of a respirator. The decor in most places is uninspiring and certainly the room we were given was lacking any individual touches at all, no pictures , 60's TV,( with no way of adjusting the colour making everybody look as if they were recently tango'd!) the bed was very hard and the pillows thin. The bathroom was not much better, although the hot water was very hot very quickly and there seemed plenty of it but the shower control;s were very stiff. The sea view was nice and it seems we made friends with the local seagull population very quickly.
Parking the car was a nightmare but the on street charges at this time of the year are very reasonable but finding a space can take time.
The food was a little bit of a school dining room experience and the standard was pretty much the same although there was variety but like most mass catering operations you have to time your collections well to avoid it being luke warm or even cold. Good range of salads though but the soup is best avoided.
We found the staff helpful and those collecting empty plates in the dining room worked very hard.
In the evening the entertainment was aimed at the elderly coach parties with bingo and a trio playing instruments to accompany taped tracks, very common nowadays! The bingo caller came back later and showed that she had a fine voice when performing as a ballad singer which was a very pleasant and welcome surprise.
I quite like the resort and have stayed in several other hotels there of varying standards over the years but the Grand proved not to be so grand.

Room Tip: Without a sea view I would think that your stay will be very drab indeed.

Where do I start? A groupon deal so I suppose we could'nt expect too much but you should expect a certain standard. The evening buffet was basic at best, lamb, peas, boiled potatoes dried up cauliflower cheese. Soup out of a 10 gallon catering tin.
Breakfast: Economy sausage, salty bacon both totally void of taste, cold tinned tomatoes and a good 10 minute wait for toast which had to go through the toaster 3 times before it took on a bit of colour. You could get pre cooked soggy toast out of the tin on the side.
The room was dated, tiny TV set (not that we watch TV much) but just added to the cheapness of the room. Furniture filthy my wife had to put a towel on the chair before she could sit on it.
Bathroom: rusty pipework on show, black marks in the bath which we mistook for spiders then realised it was just wear and tear. Very drab room in general. Corridors stank, carpets dirty, maids threw 'clean' towels on the floor outside the rooms. A young scouse girl made me laugh at the evening buffet, every other word out of her mouth was "disgusten" (say that in your best scouse accent!!). Good points: Nice view when you pay a supplement, plenty hot water to enjoy in a drab bathroom and reasonable prices in the bar.
Would not stay here again if you paid me. Try the Esplanade with a sea view room.
I suppose its true what they say, If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Room Tip: If you must stay here pick a room with a sea view.

One can only describe our experience as a scene from pheonix nights!!! completley unfriendly , faceless receptionst, then 20 mins trying to get in the lift due to the gereatrics riding up and down in it brought us to our sea view room which could only be seen whilst peering through the seagull poo!! the room was filthy the decor was very dated and grubby the bathroom ceiling tiles was lifted back to bare the joists and the rest was stained brown due to water damage, 15 minutes into our stay water begun pouring in out of the ceiling either from a toilet or the shower from the room above had to go to reception to complain yet again had to walk down from the 4th floor as the lift was still going up and down with gereatrics only to find the queue of other misfortunates waiting to complain to the completley non plused receptionist!! was told the duty manager would come and see us then had to walk back up to the 4th floor as the lift was still going up and down with the same people , we then waited 20 mins for the duty manager to arrive whilst apologetic could only offer us a room facing the orme which ment losing the sea view altogether!! the second room was equally dirty and depressing and the window wouldnt open at all, we came back to the hotel at 10.30pm to witness something which resembled a karaoke 1 book to go round and 2 members of staff who clearly looked uncomfortable having to take part , the food was awful as was the service the only highlight being was the russian state circus jugglers who was clearing the cutlery and plates like a team of crack burglers!!! so needless to say we will never return and never recommend!!!!!

Room Tip: take a sleeping bag and kip in your car before booking in at the grand!!!

1night stay booked on Late Rooms. When arriving at reception we obviously interrupted the 3 members of staff in reception who were chatting to each other as looked at us and carried on with their backs to us not very welcoming. Given envelope with keycard and instructions take lift to 4th floor. On opening the door to our room we were met with an awful odour, tried to open the window but was stuck solid found out after complaining that the window frame was broken so the window wouldn't open. Bathroom was tied with cracked tiles. Also the notice that said dont drink the tap water for boiling only! Windows were filthy. We were then offered 2 single rooms or a double with a wine voucher neither appropriate as with daughter. Asked for a refund but was told no manager or duty manager on until Wednesday. Drove home disappointed luckily only live 2 hours away. I would never recommend this hotel.

It's all a bit sad,the maintenance men have an impossible task. Plenty of hot water / good shower. Food ok. Service in restaurant ok. Smell of damp in room. This was the second room we were given as window in first room was taped in and wasn't fit for use.don't drink the tap water! Next to hotel looks derelict. It's all a shame but nothing but a bulldozer could sort the problems.all Windows very dirty. Would not return, glad only booked one night. Have stayed in lots of britannia hotels before and sadly this was the worst. But this hotel is in a prime position, but the answers are hard to find without a few million pound spend.

Room Tip: Take a air freshener to offset the smell of damp
