We're to begin. The positive things first, the location of the hotel is excellent and the sea view from our room was a bonus, the staff were friendly and check in prompt. Ok now the rest the decor was tired poorly maintained and dirty. We stayed on the fourth floor and the corridor leading to our room had wet paint warnings all along it, the smell of paint was everywhere. Filthy dust sheets were on the corridor floor and were a definate trip hazzard, as well as being unsightly. The room itself was basic and the furniture was very dated. The bathroom was in need of a deep clean the shower cubicle tiles were full of mildew and it felt generally very grubby there was no drinking water and so was buying bottled water throughout our stay. The rooms above had squeeky floorboards which drove you mad. We stayed 2 nights b&b, breakfast was poor the quality of the food was dreadful, cheap products used and very little choice, no baked beans, no mushrooms, no hash browns, no black pudding. The second
morning we didn't have breakfast and went elsewhere. So to sum up, good location, pleasant staff but dreadful room, hotel cleanliness and food.

Stayed at the Grand Hotel room fantastic for the price nice sea view room, facilities poor, two tea bags, two coffee, 4 uht milk, but the room clean and tidy.

On booking in quite disappointing to have to listen to two staff members whinging about their working hours and having to keep the bar open for residents at night……, not the best first impression for guests.

Breakfast disappointing timings arrived the breakfast room to be greeted with, Good Morning Mate, we don’t open till 8 am it was 7.45, was not even offered the opportunity to have a tea or coffee while we waited. The hotel mainly caters for large coach parties so I imagine that this is to allow the coach parties to have breakfast and depart.

We waited until 8 am in an anti room to return to the breakfast room to see a very large coach party queue about 50 people, we did not stay for breakfast as I could imagine the scrabble for tables, tea, coffee and food.

I travel extensively and find it strange to have such a late timing it only leads to large queues, which make it difficult for the staff and disappointment for the guests.

We were very disappointed generally with this Hotel. It is best described as VERY tired and needs a huge revamp. The staff were excellent ; so no complaints there
The evening meal was very very poor - the grilling ham could be likened to leather since it was over cooked The tables were set out as very long tables and the noise in this restaurant made it difficult to have a conservation. We did find the breakfast which was served in an adjoining room with individual tables to be excellent
We will never return to this Hotel again

Room Tip: Don't go

This hotel is way past it's best. Decor is dated service not up today's standards and the food is poor. The hotel seems to be a destination for coach parties and has a sense of a holiday camp. There was a queue for a 6pm sitting. Breakfast we were put in a different room to the coach parties massive pots of food never seen jam and marmalade served in gigantic bowls. Mountains of cold toast and massive dispensers of sauce give an unhygienic and uncaring atmosphere. Give this throw back a miss

We stayed at the Grand Hotel, Llandudno last weekend, in room 123.

There were some good points about the hotel, the bedroom was clean enough and the furniture matched, and there were plenty of mirrors. The bathroom window did not open and was badly in need of painting or replacing. There was moss growing on the inside. The balcony doors would not close neatly, and also needed a lick of paint. The balcony paint was flaking. There was a full skip directly below the balcony.

On arrival at 2.00 pm on Friday, there was nowhere to park to unload, so we parked on the double yellow lines with hazard lights switched on. A member of the family parked the car 1/2 mile away! After booking in we were told that our room would not be ready until 3.30 pm. This meant sitting around among our luggage somewhere.

We were alarmed to hear that the water in our bedroom was not fit to drink, and only to be used when boiled for tea and coffee making. My husband has a lowered immune system so we were quite worried. Also the mattress and pillows were hard. The T.V. failed to work on the last morning,

The dining room was like an army cookhouse with tables too close together, so not much privacy. The chairs needed replacing, many were splitting. The food was adequate and you could eat as much as you liked (a plus).

During the wedding reception which we attended, we thought that the staff worked very hard serving us, but we would have liked a little more time to chat to people.

On the Saturday after 12.00 pm, the key to our room would not work, which meant going downstairs to reception to have it registered or whatever it is called! We had to vacate our rooms by 10.00 am. the next day.

We would not stay there again or recommend the hotel, or Britannia Hotels who we phoned to book our holiday.

A group of us stayed here for 2 nights as a base for a golfing trip. The outside of the hotel is in need of a makeover as the rust is visible on all levels. One of our rooms had rolled up newspapers being used to seal up a window and gaffer tape sealing another one. The breakfast was not much better with the exception of the bacon that was very good. The coffee was poor on both our days and the porridge was an acquired taste. The bar was well stocked and the service was good with both the bar staff being very friendly. The night entertainment was very poor unless you like 1970's television theme tunes being played to the same backing tune. Overall I would say that the staff tried to make our stay a pleasure but the company appears to have forgot about this hotel and is happy to run it down.
