We went with National holidays there were 4 of us and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. For the price we paid this hotel was fine, the staff were really friendly and helpfull, especially Paul the Barman he was funny and made sure we got the quality of drink we asked for (thankyou Paul) Go and find out for yourselves, I dont think you will be disappointed. Yes I agree the cleaning downstairs could be better but it didnt put us off and we would go again. You get what you pay for if its a fridge in your room you want etc then pay more and go somewhere else.

We felt we must write a review having just come home from The Grand yesterday. We totally agree with " GlossopDaves" report and found that every comment he made was totally true. We had a brilliant time. Ok the hotel is old and a bit antiquated but that is more than made up for in the food. We were totally amazed by the choice at breakfast there was lovely hot porridge, cereals, grapefruit, oranges, kippers, juicy thick bacon, sausages, beans, tomatoes, ash browns, fried eggs, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fried bread, as much toast as you could possibly want & jam and marmalade, orange juice and pots of tea or coffee.. We hadn't booked evening meal at the hotel but when we saw what was on offer for £10 per head we just could not beat it anywhere in town. There was a choice of starters (including prawn cocktail), piping hot soup, salads a good selection of main courses to choose from(the roast lamb didn't need a knife it was so tender) there was even curry and rice and the sweets (they do a lovely crumble) were delicious. The coffee and tea after evening meal were served in the foyer but we thought that was nice because you could go into the lounge and sit and relax over your cuppa.
We had wonderful entertainment on the Friday evening with a gentleman by the name of Bruce McLaren who had a wonderful voice and sang some songs from the musicals he sang like Neil Sedaka and was a true pleasure to listen to and like GlossopDave we thoroughly enjoyed the live band. The drummer and key board players were fantastic and a history of the songs was also given which made it quite interesting if you follow music
Like Glossopdave says the only downside was the parking aspect but we managed to find a space at the bottom of the incline on the street where it was free parking for all of our weekend.
So anyone who has booked don't listen to the negative reports go and find out for yourself and hope you enjoy the food as much as we did.

I booked a premier room for 1 night in August, 7 weeks before my Husband and I was due to go, by the internet. Confirmation came saying 'Reservation Status - Guaranteed and paid in full. However after travelling up from South Wales and spending a night in Anglesey first, I switched on my Mobile in the morning to find a message asking me to call the hotel. After getting in touch with them, I was advised that my 'Guaranteed Reservation' had been double-booked (computer error but strange how they only realised the night before) after having my monies for 7 weeks!!! Still waiting for a response to my complaint with 'Gordon' on the telephone (no surprise there). Actually glad now since reading these reviews and actually seeing the hotel. Eventually stayed in a lovely Hotel on the front called 'The Kensington Hotel' which was more central & recently refurbished with their own Car Park and one I would recommend.

we went for a nice bank holiday break and although the staff were efficient, we found they were like zombies and really talked, especially in the dining room, mind you they were probably embarrassed by the state of the food, breakfast was watery, cold and not a lot of choice, very basic indeed, evening meals did not fare any better at all,all of the vegetables and potatoes were rock hard, as for the lamb chops, you could have soled your shoes with them, asked staff for cup of coffee with our evening meal and were told you could not have tea or coffee with your meal, only in the reception area afterwards, what is that all about!!!
the room, although advertised as superior-double, was in fact a basic room with a three-quarter bed, however they did not charge me any extra for the mould in the room and bathroom, light fitting was broke, carpet was stained all over, and all this was no exaggeration, the karaoke was so good with such a great selection of songs that the lady d. j. asked the audience if anyone wants to start telling jokes. all in all not value for money and although we really enjoyed llandudno, would not stay or recommend the grand hotel to anyone whatsoever

Having read previous reviews I was alittle concerned over some adverse comments. However, on arrival our cases were promptly taken to our room (while I found somewhere to park.....my only complaint...but soon learned where the spaces were). The room was fairly large, clean and comfortable with a fantastic view of the Bay. Meals were good with a varied choice of menu, (contrary to other comments the food was not left 'exposed' all night and all items we had were fresh). The staff were pleasant and helpful. Yes the floor boards creaked...but the hotel is probably well over 100 years old with nice airy high ceilings. The decor was clean but basic....they seem to like woodchip. Overall we enjoyed a splendid 4 days in Llandudno and would be prepared to stay at the Grand again. I can't comment on the entertainment as we can't be bothered to spend time sitting in Bars etc.

To repeat we felt we had value for money and think most of the criticism from other reviewers is a tad unfair.

As a worker in the hotel, i decided to have a look at what people have to say about the place. In truth, most of what is said is true, but i would like to say a few things myself.

Yes, it is old and dated, is in need of refurbishment, the food could be better. But, the staff have to work with what theyve got. I.E, the restaurant is self service - so hand sanitizer is applied to the hands, would you like to catch something from an ill person from something they have touched? If people stuck to their meal times, you would get a table more quickly. Please dont forget that the hotel has in over 250 people in for dinner each night, the Waiters/ess do an excellent job in trying to clean tables quickly ready for the next guests, its people who think they have all night to eat their dinner that slows things down. Is it the Receptionists fault if their has been a computer glitch etc? As for the rooms, there is approximately 160 odd rooms in there, with 2 Chambermaids per floor, about 35 rooms between them. They have under 6 hours to clean them rooms, from waiting for slow guests to vacate the rooms to stripping them and cleaning everywhere, and it takes approximately half hour to re-make 1 room, under pressure to finish the rooms especially when people go up at 2 0clock expecting their rooms to be ready!!!, Then when they have rushed the rooms to be ready, they arnt satisfied with the results! They arnt Superwomen!!! I understand that when people come to the Grande hotel, they expect exactly that - Grande. But just please think of the staff who try their best to obey your every wish and command - we are doing the best we can. Much love from Llandudno x x x
