“Shabby & Dated Seafront Hotel”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Because we bought a 2 night stay here on a voucher deal we weren't expecting much, & we were right. Nice location in central Llandudno & on the seafront. They would probably make a fortune if they rented it out for location work to any TV/film companies looking for a genuine 1970's backdrop. The lifts in this place are scary & I suggest if you are able to then take the stairs. Our room on the 3rd floor was tatty & the outside windows were so dirty it looked like the weather was overcast. Beds were uncomfortable, carpets frayed & overall it was quite depressing & dull. My main gripe though is that the room wasn't properly serviced after our 1st night. Tea, coffee & toilet paper not checked. The latter ran out & couldn't find anyone to ask for replacements when we got back late at night. Bedding also wasn't changed. Breakfast was adequate, however with such a stupidly short window of 1 hour it was very crowded - we didn't bother the 2nd morning. The Ambassador will probably do OK if they keep offering these cheap voucher deals, & for the money it was reasonable, but I can't say that we would ever go back.

Do not enter this building...how it can be called a hotel i will never know ! Firstly the lift is shabby and dangerous..health and safety issue !!! Secondly the bedroom door was so badly damaged, it looked as if it had been kicked in. Thirdly the room was vile...curtains and windows were filthy, mattresses were stained and you could feel all the springs, bathroom ...dont even go there !!! Carpet...threadbare all over. Completely in need of renovation. We walked out after 10 minutes and as they offered us no explanation to the state of the room or no apology, we asked for a full refund and left the building immediately to find a beautiful hotel for the same price. This building needs to be condemned or a complete renovation.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms...go to a real hotel.

I booked our 2 night stay via Groupon for £79 for two nights bed and breakfast. We wanted to walk to the top of Snowdon so when I saw this deal we booked straight away. On the way there we looked on trip advisor and became worried about people's reviews. Upon getting there my worries soon went! If u are looking for the luxury of Marriott then find one and pay for it! This hotel was a great one. Yes the rooms are dated but it was clean, had coffee making facilities and flat screen telly on the wall. We had a twin room but just pushed the beds together. Breakfast which was included was great! I can't believe the moaners on here! My husband and I are 33 and we did here people moan generally the people of our parents age! One moaned there was no marmite!!! Get a life! We will be Bringing our 3 children here in the summer and I would recommend to friends and family. The bar is well stocked... Didn't eat dinner there as we wanted seaside fish and chips! The dinners
Smelt like my Nans! All in all..... We had a great weekend! U will laugh at the carpet but as I say if u want the Marriott style then book an pay the price but this hotel we thought was just right for what we paid! Enjoy and don't be put off by the oldies moaning!!! Xxx

My wife and I went to this hotel on a groupon deal on the 24th of February . I wish we hadn't bothered . The hotel staff were not very helpful , and the room was terrible . The bedding was awlul , old and well worn and the bed was full of bumps and very uncomfortable . We put three pillows on each and they made one pillow thickness. The room didn't look as though it had been decorated for over 40 years and stank smelled very stale and musty. the heating was just a waste of time , it was regulated by the hotel and the room was very cold ! The breakfast was just ok ! , though nothing to write home about . We were told that there was plenty of parking in front of the hotel , the hotels car park was fully booked . We found it very difficult to park right outside the hotel , which could have been made easier if inconsiderate drivers had parked more sensibly , this obviously was not the hotel at fault !. Another drawback with parking on the road was the fact that a parking fee was payable after 10 am until 7 pm , or you got a parking ticket .

Room Tip: don't stay here , go to another hoel

Stayed here as part of a groupon deal. The hotel is very dated, especially the rooms. The cooked breakfast was quite poor and they really cram you in to the small dining room. Plus it is strange that there was only a one hour window in which you could have breakfast. The room bathroom was tiny. It looks like none of the hotel has been renovated since the 80's, bits of it since the 60's. E.g. the carpet outside our room was thread bare. Also, the hotel had a musty stale smell. On the plus side the location was spot on, right on the promenade. But I wouldn't stay here again, even as part of another special offer.

I took advantage on a Groupon deal a few weeks ago to stay at this hotel, I wished I hadn't bothered. This hotel is supposedly rated 3 star, whoever has rated it must of been blind, I don't think is possible to rate this hotel.
Upon arrival the exterior of the hotel is very drab. Venturing into the hotel it's clearly visible that it's well overdue a makeover, not only that the hotel had a musty old smell to it which wasn't nice at all. Going up to the room and after looking closely there were hairs in the bottom of the shower, black mould around the grouting, again an old unpleasant smell along with drab outdate decoration, bedding which didn't look clean and which was well worn, the mattress was old and shabby which probably had bed lice in it and the chair in room had dark stain's on it, need I say more.
I know that it was a cheap deal on the internet but you would still think that there would be a good standard of cleanliness there, but there wasn't. After seeing the bedroom that did it for me I went straight to reception to complain, I was offered a full refund and left the hotel, I must of only been in there 20 minutes.
Be warned people I wouldn't even let my dog stay at this hotel, so think twice before booking and read previous reviews on here.

Room Tip: Don't bother find another hotel
