“will not return!”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Stayed here at the beginning of July on a wowcher deal. In the rooms the mattress was non existent, shower didn't work so had to use one in another room! It was fixed though. My main disappointment though was the afternoon tea we got rubbish smart price scones with skirts creamdespite lovely big ones on display I think the bucks fizz was Fanta! I recommend putting a little more effort in to entice people to come back! Highlight was seeing James Blunt at Venue Cymru! Now that was brilliant!

We had a pleasant stay and it was good value. However a towel rack falling off the wall is not acceptable in the cheapest of B and Bs. The temperature of the breakfast room and the quality of the ingredients are easy to remedy. The reception staff were very helpful but are just 'papering over the cracks' of under investment. Surely the concept of 'wowcher deals is to advertise the hotel and encourage people to come back at a proper rate and to get clients on 'cheap' deals to spend money on dinners, drinks, etc. Unfortunately after the first breakfast I was not prepared to risk dinner and I am certainly not going back at £95 a night.

Like many we had a 2 night break at a great price, maybe we got lucky with the room which had the best sea views from the top floor. Staff were all great and the little lift was an adventure each time we used it !

Room Tip: We stayed in the Gronwen spa room on the top floor, I think you would normally have to pay a little...

I'm going start by saying, what do people actually want and expect these days? I've noticed many have moaned on here who have bought wowchers or living social deals for this hotel that give you 2 nights bed and breakfast for 2 people for around £70. So there's the key people. If you want something that's really decent and very up to date, then you HAVE to pay for it. Don't expect 5 star quality for £70 for 2 nights and come on here slating the place giving a complete false impression because it's unfair. However if you pay the "normal rate" of £95 a room a night, then I think you would have a right to have a little grumble as I don't think it is worth that in it's current state. Right so about this hotel. Many good points and a few bad ones.
Good points are as follows:-
Car parking at £3.25 a day (bargain) although parking in Llandudno is quite reasonable
Great Location
Pleasant staff
Clean Room and Sheets
Fantastic Shower
Lovely Breakfast with plenty of variety
Decent Bar
Nice seating areas.
Reasonable TV in room with freeview channels
Things that could be improved on include:-
Little tired and dated in parts (including bedroom linen and draws)
English isn't the first language for many of the staff so communication can be difficult but generally ok.
Unable to sit "anywhere" at breakfast
Car Park is very narrow and small and could pose a problem to those who drive larger vehicles.
Overall with the voucher it provides EXCELLENT value of money and I would not hesitate to come here again with a voucher. I mean why can you go for the equivalent of £17.25 a night each and have a decent breakfast each? Some people I feel really do need a reality check.

Room Tip: You can upgrade to sea front room for £12.50 a night but is it worth it????
