“Fantastic stay”
Reviewed 2 November 2011

Thank you Deborah for a lovely stay - it was too short we could only manage one night but were so impressed with the hotel we will try and stay longer next time. Highly recommended everything is absolutely perfect and you could not ask for a cleaner or well-run hotel. The sea room we had was perfect and lovely decor. The breakfast was amazing and very filling. Deborah deserves full marks for professionalism.

Room Tip: sea view rooms amazing

As all ways we have had a fantastic stay at the stratford hotel, this time we had the sea view double , which was spotlessly clean & decorated to a high standard . which we would expect as we have had the back family room before looking onto the rear garden .
The breakfast is so filling we did not need lunch, we had fruit juice & cereal . full english . lots of toast tea & coffee . Debra is a lovely host that makes you feel at home every visit .
The Stratford is at the far end of Llandudno near to the paddling pool if you have little ones . But its only around£3.50 taxi ride , or you can get the bus to the end of the road .

Room Tip: I love the Bay window sea view double room .

We enjoyed a couple of nights at this spotlessly clean small hotel. The hosts combine genuine friendliness with sheer professionalism and everything runs like clockwork whilst being very relaxed in ambience. Debs was knowledgeable about gluten-free requirements - thank-you! While it's a bit of a hike to the town centre this does mean that parking is free and plentiful and the area is quiet at night. We stayed in room 8 which has lovely sea-views.
Overall I would say that it was very evident that the owners have high levels of experience and knowledge in providing a first-class stay.

The Stratford is a lovely hotel in a quiet part of the town, right on the sea front.
The rooms are beautiful, spotlessly clean, really well-appointed and the beds and bedding are so comfortable. The hospitality tray is full of high-quality goodies, and the choc treat on the pillow is much appreciated!
The breakfast is enormous, and you can choose from a wide menu, all served piping-hot and fresh to your table - no buffet here, it's silver service all the way. The dining room has views over the bay, and is lovely.
Our host Debbie was warm and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for her.
Highly recommended - it would be hard to beat this gem.

Stayed here for one night with my girlfriend on a short break to Llandudno. Chose the Stratford after reading all the good reviews and also because the price appeared to be very reasnoble compared to other B&B's in the area.

Arrived just after 5pm and were greated by Andrew and Debbie, a very pleasant couple who showed us to our room. First impressions of the room were excellent, nice decor with flat screen TV, hospitality tray and a huge bed. So far so good.

However, when I booked the room I requested a sea view. It was explained at the time that because we were only staying for one night, people who were staying for longer got first choice on a sea view room, even if they had booked after we had. I think this system is a little unfair. Surely rooms should be allocated on a first come, first served basis and not dependant on how long you stay? Anyway I was prepared for the fact that we might not get a sea view, what I wasn't prepared for was the view we had onto a fire escape looking out over a rather scruffy looking Cul-de-sac. This was quite disappointing.

Also disappointed was the breakfast. I have stayed in many B&B's before and I've experienced much better breakfasts than this. Everywhere else I've stayed, there's usually a table where you can help yourself to cereals/fruit juice/yoghurts etc. Here you must order these items as a 'starter' and you're only permitted one starter, so you cannot have fruit juice and cereal for example. The full English that followed did slighly make up for this, as it was very good.

More annoying than anything else was when we came to check out, we had been charged £55 for the room. On their website, rooms without a sea view are priced at £47. So we'd actually been charged for a sea view room, without the view!

Overall, the hotel was ok. Very friendly couple and the rooms are very nice but there are several things that we were unhappy with. Perhaps if we had stayed longer we would have had a more enjoyable stay but we didn't have the same experience that has warranted so many good reviews. Shame.

  • Liked — Friendly owners, nice rooms
  • Disliked — Sea view policy, view over a fire escape from bedroom, lack of choice at Breakfast

Are these people sure they are commenting about the Stratford.

In response to these unfair comments. On busy times we can't allocate single night stays, all our rooms are beautifuly decorated, whether they are sea views or rear. With regard to the cost there is a 'small' supplement for a single night stay, which everyone is informed of, and the price is always agreed whilst booking.

The Stratford does not look out on to a 'Scruffy Cul-de-sac, we have a rather lovely garden. Also I would hope that all hotels with more than six rooms have a fire escape.

As for breakast, we serve a fabulous breakfast that we are highly praised for on a regular basis. You may have a choice of juices, which you are most welcome to and you may have more than one starter, with pleasure. Our breakfasts are cooked to order and we use the finest produce. We feel that helping yourself to starters from a 'table' is not what the Stratford is about, we are all about service and style and exactly how it should be done.

We have more that 15 years experience in Four and Five Star hotels and cruise ships.

We do not scrimp here at the Stratford please look at the other reviews to see that this one is very unfair.
