Visited the George for a pot of tea and cake. After being politely greeted we secured a seat on the terrace. Very comfortable wth a super view of the Orme. The cakes on display didn't look too tempting (appeared a bit tired and dry) so we ordered scones with jam and cream with our tea. The Earl Grey tea was nicely served and the china cups were lovely to drink from. With the scone came lashings of butter, good quality jam and Rodda's clotted cream. What a shame that whilst much thought had been given to the accompaniments, the scone was dry, crumbly and of a poor quality. We were informed that the kitchen team couldn't keep up with demand so had to buy the scones in. Though this is quite reasonable, I would advise a change of supplier.
