Myself and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel from 5th to 7th of July 13. Overall I was very pleased with the accomodation and Andy (the guy who owns and runs the place) does a very good job, especially the breakfasts, which are very good, to say the least. There are rooms with sea views, but, we did not manage to stay in one because we got the last room owing to a cancellation. It was a busy time we were trying to book and we were lucky to get anywhere owing to the recent warm and sunny weather. I would stay here again which is always a sign that the accomodation was very good. Thanks Andy for a pleasant stay.

Reviewed 29 June 2013

My Wife and I stayed at the Clovelly for seven days from the 19th.June to the 26th.June 2013 as a very late booking via the internet as We was unable to stay at our usual Hotel due to it being Full.
We was slightly apprehensive prior to arrival as due to being a post op major heart patient I had concerns as to luggage handling - however this was quickly dispelled as our luggage was taken up to our room for us.
We Had the Twin Room number 8 which was located at the rear of the property up three short flights of stairs.
The window of the room was a modern double glazed unit which could be opened full width or just tilted - which was the version which we used and found that in that position it gave good ventilation with maximum safety.
On the Dressing table Unit there was also a large portable fan which we did not use but was a nice addition for sultry weather.
The Dressing table unit was slightly larger than the average and was backed by a large wall mounted mirror - The room also had another full length view wall mounted mirror.
Drawer Storage consisted of nine drawers spread over three separate units.
Wardrobe space consisted of one small built in Wardrobe containing an upper shelf with hanging space below and whilst I have used the word small it was still large enough to hang our clothes and also contain the empty suitcase with ease.
There was a couple of bedside table lamps and a central ceiling three light fitting.
The twin single beds was very comfortable and furnished with clean modern bedding - neither of us are very good sleeper's BUT slept very well during our entire stay.
The Private on suite shower room was bright well lit with halogen spotlights and contained Toilet - Wash Basin - Towel Rack and STEP IN SHOWER.
Note the shower is of standard size with a raindrop fixed point shower head - But whilst the access to it was no particular problem for My Wife or I - for some people with disabilities the depth of the access step may prove a little problematic as the entry step is unusually deep.
A warning as to the depth of the shower step has been posted within the Shower Room by the Hotel Owner's.
The on suite shower room was spotlessly clean as was to the best of our knowledge the rest of the Hotel.
The Dining Room and (Small Bar) are on the Ground floor as is the Lounge and all are decorated and furnished in a style which would not be entirely out of place in the Victorian Era and indeed are very much in keeping with the Hotel's Victorian Origins.
Some of the furnishings appear to be genuine antique's as opposed to the reproduction furniture which is normally found in Hotel's of this type.
The Breakfast from our own personal point of view was fine and met our health needs with no problems - For those having the full Welsh Breakfast all seemed to be quite happy with what they was presented by the attentive and very efficient Staff.
The Owner's seem to have a continual program of improvements in place and during Our stay two of the bedrooms near Ours had new carpets fitted (room number 8 had already been done prior to Our arrival)
The Hotel is situated in a good level location a very short distance from the Promenade and in the opposite direction for the shops and restaurants.
The Bus Stops to virtually everywhere in North Wales are also only a VERY SHORT level walk away from the Hotel entrance.
PLEASE NOTE that English Senior Bus Passes can now be used in Wales to purchase a Senior Day Rover Ticket for the sum of £3 .50 and gives unlimited travel on Arriva Wales Buses (most of the Buses in Llandudno and North Wales) for the day.
The Views from rooms located at the front of the Hotel are of the Sea - The Promenade - The Great Orme (small mountain) - and the Promenade.
The Happy Valley Gardens - The Cable Car Station - and The Great Orme Tramway are all approximately a mere 12 to 15 minutes (slightly uphill) walk from the Hotel's entrance.
The Dry Ski Run and Alpine Lodge and Cresta Run Toboggan Centre (a TOP FAVOURITE WITH KIDS) is a further short walk up beyond the Happy Valley Gardens and would take most Families no more than approx. 15 to 20 minutes to walk it from the Hotel (after all that's all that it takes US) however it is possible to drive there or take a taxi which in Llandudno itself are very cheap.
For those with small Children then the Pier has many good attractions at remarkably reasonable prices (for instance a very large slide is £2.50 for as long as You Like) and the same Charge is also applied to a Bouncy Castle in the same location all of which is a mere 3/4 minutes walk from the Hotel Entrance.
In Common with the majority of Hotels in Llandudno Parking is very limited - However those who was staying during the same period as ourselves parked across the road where Public Parking was available at a Charge of £3 from 10.30 am until 16.00 (4.pm) or there about's then Free until the following morning.
Public Transport to nearly everywhere is quite frequent from near to the Hotel so many People use that as an alternative.
We Found that the Hotel Owner's who are totally unknown to My Wife and I was Friendly and Polite and gave the impression that they are constantly working to improve both the standard of accommodation and guest experience at their Hotel.
We also Feel that the same welcome would be extended to any Guests from any group be they Family - Friends - or Solo Guests.

Room Tip: Rooms at the Front of the Hotel Have Good Views. Rooms at the rear of the Hotel are without any par...

We stayed the 19th April for 2 nights, 2 couples. Andy and Elder are lovely, friendly people who made us feel welcome. They recommended places to eat and it was no trouble for them to open up the bar for pre/post dinner drinks. Both our rooms were wonderful. Very clean and very comfortable. The service was fab and the welsh breakfasts were very good and piping hot! This hotel is in a perfect location for the shops and the pier, and Llandudno is a wonderful place with lots to explore. Will defo stay again!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 which was lovely. Room 3 is quite big with a very big bed!

We recently stayed at the Clovelly with our two children. Our family room included bunk beds for the children, which they were thrilled about. While the room and bathroom were adequate and completely met our needs, nothing about either was remarkable. We were able to park outside the hotel without difficulty and the location was within an easy walk to a good pub for an evening meal. Breakfast offerings were fairly typical cold and cooked options that were perfectly fine but nothing out of the ordinary.

I stayed here for a night after having read the other reviews of this B&B and I have to say I was disappointed. Our room was tatty, peeling wallpaper and just generally shabby. There was a lot of very obvious electrical trunking which just added to the lack of ambience. The radiator wasnt quite big enough for the room and again, had a mess of poorly hidden pipework snaking around it. Perhaps the other rooms are a lot better? Having said that, the location is excellent, we managed to park nearby, and the breakfast was good. Except for the tea which was luke warm. Was it worth £70? Well, I would rather have paid more and stayed somewhere a bit nicer looking. Or been warned about the shabbiness of the room, It was such a disappointment after reading the reviews on TA.

Room Tip: Ask to see the rooms first and if you are offered Room 7, ask for a discount!
