Booking vie the Internet is not our favourite method !!!
However we Should not have had any Qualms as it was a very simple procedure with the Annan and If We had have wished we could have just simply Phone Them.
But as this was a VERY last minute booking we just put our criteria into the computer and looked at the six that the net came up with.
The First Choice was the Annan as far as the net was concerened.
We looked at their rather good web-page and booked.
Now as far as Hotels in Llandudno are concerened the Annan is now going to be Our FIRST CHOICE.
That is if we can get in that is ?
= Their Web Availability form shows that the bookings there are exceptionaly heavy = Now we know why so We will now give our Personal Opinion of what we found.
We Have stayed in Llandudno many times ovr the years and like the area very much however having a good base at which to stay is fundamental to all holidays and as bases go the Annan Hotel is top notch.
We was not aware of the Annan Hotel prior to this visit as it is not located on the Seafront (where we have always stayed) BUT that is no way a detriment as it is far quieter than previous locations due to being situated at the junction of two wide tree lined Avenues just below the Great Orme and indeed during the few days that we stayed there it was sometimes possible to see the wild cashmere goats up on the rocks of the Orme = from our breakfast table - as we had a table by one of the windows in the very Elegant Breakfast Room.
Ellegance is the Hallmark of this Bed and Breakfast Hotel and that was the First Impression and remained with us throughout our stay.
My wife said that as soon as She went through the Entrance doorway that She knew that She was going to like as the place just exuded a warm welcoming atmosphere.
= I Agree - a unique combination of Warmth and Elegance was ever present throughout our all too short Six Days there !!!
Quality was Uppermost in everything = From the utter cleanliness throughout to the incredibly pleasant owner's and all of their staff.
We go on holiday to Relax and Wind Down and being a major heart patient minimal stress is always paramount = The relaxing atmosphere meant that there was no Qualms on that Score.
Room facilities was top class the Beds (Twin Room on Ground Floor) was very comfortable (must have been as we both slept like logs) and the Bathroom which was tiled from floor to ceiling was immaculate and had a walk-in shower which was NOT Electric BUT driven from the main system and had a proper Mixer-Unit which was very easy to operate.
A luxury Shower head also meant that a wide variaty of spray patterns was possible from the gentle to the very vigerous.
The Bathroom facilities was completed with super very absorbent fluffy white towels.
The bedroom was lit by a three candle chandelier and a wall light over each bed plus one more wall light over a small two seater leather Settee.
The TV was a 22inch Flatscreen LCD Model on a easily moveable bracket for optimum viewing position depending where you was in the room.
The Bedroom was centraly heated which was available at ALL Times by just turning the Radiator Thermostat up or down as required or as was the case for us turning it off for most of the time as We did not require it.
All the main Public area's seemed to be very well heated.
The Breakfast was top Class with the widest quality Choice that we have ever seen.
Apart from the Traditional Full Welsh Breackfast there was a huge choice of Cerials and Fresh Fruit which included Peaches/Grapes/Apples/Bannanas/Prunes/and Grapefruit.
Servings of the main cooked breakfast was to Order and seemed very generous !!! and my own rather strict Diet was catered for without any problem whatsoever.
Breackfast times are reasonably flexible which adds to the relaxing start to the Day in the Breakfast Room's very pleasant ambience.
On a couple of occassions In the Evening we spent some time in the very pleasant lounge = which for those who like an alchoholic (or soft) Drink or two there was an "Honesty Bar" which appeared to be incredibly well stocked.
Regertably as heart medication prevents me from drinking alchohol we did not avail ourselves of this facility - but it was readily available should We have wished to do so.
We Travelled by Train so did not require Parking facilities = However other Guests was full of Praise for the fact that the Car Park has two easy entrances and that there is a space for each of the Hotels 17 Rooms.
There was also sitting area's with tables and chairs in the Garden where People could smoke if they wished = This was the ONLY AREA where Smoking was permitted as the Annan Hotel is STRICKTLY NON-SMOKING !!!
Which was ideal for Us and meant that we was not going to be staying in a room that had been afected by smoke as the No Smoking rule is rigourously applied to the rooms and All Public area's of the Hotel.
For Evening Meals Good Restaurants are only a 3/4 level(ish) minutes walk away at the top of Mostyn Street and as there are several of them in that location there was plenty of choice as to where to eat in the Evening or for Lunchtime snacks.
Evening entertainment is approx Ten minutes Walk away if You Like the Male Voice Choir Concerts as we Do.
Other Entertainment in the form of Quality Pubs is a similar distance.
As We was relying on Public Transport We did not encounter any problem as Buses to most places are only about a 3/4 minute walk from The Annan Hotel as is the Tram Station for the Ride up to the Great Orme.
The Cable-Car Station for the journey up to the Summit of the Great Orme (671feet) at Happy Valley is about 12 minutes Walk from the Annan.
The Beach at North Shore and the Pier = with a number of Attractions for all ages from very small Children to the quite elderly is a mere 8/10 minute mostly level(ish) walk via Church Walks where there are also good restaurants and a couple of good Pubs.
The Beach at West Shore with its beautiful views across the Conwy Estuary to the Snowdonia Mountain Range is a longer Walk which takes about 15/20 minutes on the direct level route.
Or going via our much preferered But considerably longer route via the Haulfrie Gardens and The Invalid Walk takes about 30 minutes or so from the Annan Hotel.
The length of time taken via this our prefered route is entirely due to wether You stop at the "Sunshine Cafe" (very popular with those in the know and 10 minutes from the Annan) and or stop to admire the Stunning view which unfolds as You pass out of the Haulfrie Gardens and travel on along the Invalid Walk.
Note at the Very far end of the Invalid Walk the Decent down to the West Shore is via a steep flight of steps = the rest can be negociated by invalid scooter note there are a number of seats and a couple of shelter's on the Invalid Walk.
With Many Places which to Visit from then we Think that The Annan Hotel was in an ideal location in which to stay
My Wife looked at the Guest Book in the Hallyway at the Numerous and sometimes length Compliments.
When We left we Just wrote in the same Guest Book One Word Only = That was SUPERB !!!
