We stayed in an attic room which featured a tiny window which didn't open more than 6", a damp smell which perpetuated throughout the hotel, an uncomfortable bed with springs that poke you in the back or side, disinterested reception staff, a TV on which you can only receive one clear channel in English, damp in the corner of the room causing the paper to peel and the paint to flake, a lamp that didn't work due to the bulb having been put in at 45 degrees and never tested (?!) - don't worry though I screwed it in straight so it works now...

It was cheap (£40 on Booking.com) but come on guys, standards must be kept up and this falls well short, I wouldn't go as far as to say I'd rather have slept in my car but sometimes when I enter a room that's this tired my heart does sink somewhat!

We booked on line for this very cheap hotel for a Saturday night out in Llandudno, 26th June we were a bit sceptical cos of other tips and reviews. We are a couple in our 60's so wen we arrived we were prepared for the worst. Our room was on the third floor, but they have a lift, it was a bit dated but nice and clean, and as it was only for a night no probs, although I would have stayed longer if we had had the timexxx The staff were very friendly, the reception and lounge areas very clean and modern, the breakfast room, beautiful. Our food was hot well presented and very nice, in fact we have booked the hotel again for august.

Room Tip: Ask for a lower floor, out of our window we could only see roof tops.

I stayed in the Grand Ash for 6 nights recently. The food was ok although the service was slow at times with the younger members of staff showing very little sign of training and smiles don't always make up for efficiency. The standard of cleanliness in the dining room was appalling, the same cloth remained on the table from our arrival to our departure, it was interesting to see the stains multiply daily! The rooms were not cleaned thoroughly and the bed linen wasn't changed at all during our stay. I also had real problems sleeping as my room was designated as a fire exit and therefore had a bright green light shining all night, not a good recipe for a good nights sleep.
The one bright star in the Grand Ash is a young lady called Nicky Rothwell without whom the place would be a complete disaster. During our stay she served at table and at the bar, manned reception , repaired faulty lights , unblocked toilets and on our last day collected all the luggage down to reception from our coach party down to the lobby on her own, the manager was once again nowhere to be seen. The coach driver had to take the cases from the hotel to the coach despite porterage having been charged. The manager finally appeared at about 7.45 and was surprised to be taken to task for his laziness. Gill H

Room Tip: Make sure you aren't given a room with a fire exit!

just spent a week at this hotel, food ok but only has a 2 star rating for health and hygine, not enough staff to keep rooms up to scratch, like linen changes and vacuuming, Curtains failing off rails, this was just our room, other rooms were worse judging by the info from other guests. Lift brook down twice. The girls did their best but were fighting a losing battle, the mamager was often not there or at least not around to do any proper managing. Outside falling apart, this hotel is one of Grand UK's, not a very good advert.

Room Tip: there are none

good value , manager seemed to be holding it all together.with limited staff. who tried their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible. small hotel in need of a serious update. Grand UK Hotel so a little disappointed although I did read the other reviews which were mixed.

Room Tip: rear rooms are quieter as front faces main road and can be very noisy late at night once people come...

I have recently returned from a holiday in beautiful Snowdonia with Grand UK. The holiday was ruined by my stay in the Grand Ash Hotel. Two adults were put in an attic broom cupboard called room 27. Apart from being small, the room had a sloping ceiling over one of the beds making the whole experience claustrophobic. Instead of a window there was a fire escape door with a light over the door permanently on, which meant we could not sleep properly. This was not a room, just a fire escape route and should not have been occupied by paying guests. I was relived to return home, the experience was very distressing.

Room Tip: During my stay many of the guests complained about their room while others were happy; it is theref...

This hotel is very good value for money, although it could do with some refurbishment, the rooms were clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent and there was plenty of choice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a cheap gettaway within walking distance of the town, beach and many attractions this is the place to go.
