“Very relaxing, great stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2012

Run by a friendly easy going couple Joni and Mark this hotel is excellently located on the quieter and more scenic west shore yet within a 15 minute stroll of Llandudno town centre. You have beach and Great Orme walks on your doorstep and a great bar within 200 metres. We stayed 2 nights in a ground floor double and might have been disturbed by foot traffic in and out of the hotel but we weren't despite the hotel being full. The room was excellently soundproofed, tastefully decorated, bathroom spotless, bed comfy and it had everything we needed for a much longer stay. The owners have put together notes on local tourist attractions which proved very helpful. The breakfast utilised locally sourced ingredients and, I have to say, was one of the best I have had from an establishment of this size. Joni was really attentive but unobtrusive at breakfast and how Mark managed to keep the food rolling out of the kitchen deserves a big well done from us.

Having read all the trip advisor reviews of this hotel I was a little concerned that it would not live up to all the excellent comments. I need not have worried! It was an amazing hotel and the owners Joni and Mark were very friendly and welcoming.
The rooms were beautifully decorated and breakfast and evening meals were delicious.
What a gem of a hotel
This was our first visit but not our last! many thanks

We received a warm welcome from Joni and Mark, (owners) with coffee in the lounge of this tastefully modernised hotel.
Lovely room...couldn't fault it! Beautifully finished! Four poster bed in a spacious room with sofa. Well furnished. Bed was sooooo comfortalbe with the bonus of crisp white sheets. Bathroom bonus was our Jaccuzi bath.
A view of the Great orme and peace and tranquility....ahhhh....bliss!!
Breakfast menu was great. We opted for traditional Welsh breakfast which was done to perfection and set us up for the day.
Bar if required...which we thought was a nice touch to round off a lovely evening! Hic :-)
Situated on the West Shore (which I'd never seen) A two minute walk to the West shore beach with spectacular hilly views accross the bay. A ten minute walk down into main town of Llandudno with it's traditional victorian seafront charm.
Or if you enjoy walking, a few paths to take you up or around the Orme from strenuous to easy. (we opted for easy which brought us out right by the funicular railway. )
Plenty of choice for eating out. Great for shopping . (if that's your pleasure) Fantastic for walking from easy along the prom to streuous up the Orme. (we cheated and took the tram up and enjoyed the views)
we didn't eat at the Clontarf and unfortunately for us we only managed a 1 night stay :-(
However....next time in the not to distant future, a full weekend and meal will be enjoyed!
We look forward to our return. Keep up the hard work Joni and Mark. hope your party went well! :-) T & A

Had two nights here , took Mum on a mini break . Couldn't fault our stay from start to finish . Rooms modern and relaxing ( we had a standard double each ) with complementary L'occitane toiletries . The beds were more than comfortable ! I wanted to take mine home !! We ate there both nights and the food was delicious with plenty of choice and cooked beautifully . Breakfast was the same , nothing was too much trouble to Joni and Mark . Well done to you both for running such a lovely establishment so smoothly . I shall definately return !! Thankyou .

Only a ten minute walk or so from the centre of Llandudno but being right by the Great Orme it had the feeling of the beauty and remoteness of the Lake District, especially with the wild mountain goats wandering around everywhere ! So glad we chose this hotel over a more central location, very friendly hosts and top notch breakfast too, just couldn't fault it.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Premier Supreme Room on the top floor which had wonderful views of the Great Orme a...

My friend and I stayed only one night but the welcome was warm from the owner, the room was beautifully decorated with a lovely deep bath and had stunning views of The Orme. We used the guest lounge with its open fireplace, but not cold enough to ask the owner to light it (shame) but there were lots of candles so played cards late into the night. Although we did not use it they had an "honesty bar" with wine/beer/soft drinks which I thought was a nice idea Breakfast was tasty and locally sourced. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Would deffinately stay again.

This was our second stay at The Clontarf and again we had a lovely couple of days.We had a luxury room which was worth it! The views were great, we could see the sea from one window and The Great Orme from the other. The rooms are very well equipped and clean. The room we had had a shower, two sinks and a free-standing 'slipper' bath tub and a toilet of course! We had a great breakfast and delicious evening meal, which we would recommend. There is always a good variety for evening meal and although we don't eat meat we still had a good choice. The owners Joni & Mark are really welcoming and friendly. We have already recommended this hotel to friends, so it must be good!

Room Tip: All the rooms are well appointed and we did have a smaller room for our first stay, the larger room...
