What can i say? My other half and i decided we need a romantic weekend away from children and we couldn't have piicked a better place. We were met on arrival by Mark who took us into the lounge and offered us a cuppa and asked if we knew the area well and drew us a map of area and pointed out were might be nice places to go for a meal etc, this i was suprised with as joni and mark do serve a 3 course evening meal which we stayed for on the saturday night, it was plentiful, presented nicely and tasted lovely, once you have tasted the food you wouldn't want to go anywhere else. The hotel itself is very clean and well decorated in a contempory style. We stayed in the romantic room with its luxorious 4 poster bed with the deepest mattress i have ever seen, it was so comfy that we didn't want to get out of it in the morning. the bathroom was also decorated and furnished to a very high standard with a jacussi bath and overhead shower. The hotel is a stone throw away from the beach which is on the quiet side of llandudno and just a 10min walk into town centre. This is the best private hotel that i have stayed at and would thoroughly recommend it. Its a lovely hotel with lovely friendly, genuine owners who couldn't be anymore helpful.

Myself, my husband, (then fiance) and our best man, stayed overnight at the Clontarf as part of a short break before our wedding.

Joni and Mark could not have been more welcoming..they stopped to chat and showed us around, told us how things worked and showed us to our rooms.
We had booked our rooms in advance and were pleasantly surprised to find all of our rooms had been upgraded...and they were lovely.

The hotel itself was very nicely furnished and the rooms were decorated in a contemporary way with an extremely comfortable bed.
I wanted to take the shower and the tap in the bathroom, home with me :)

The hotel is literally on the doorstep of the beach which is situated on the quite side of Llandudno. What a wonderful beach...we almost had it to ourselves :)

Joni and Mark also told us about a nice walk along the hill path that would take us into Llandudno itself..much nicer than walking along the road into town.

There was a handy guide in the room with all the local places to eat, but Joni and Mark were also full of great advice. They were so accommodating..even down to letting the guests use DVD's to watch in your room.

We didn't have any complaints. We loved our stay..we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again..thank you :)

We stayed at the Clontarf Hotel for three days towards the end of August 2009. We really enjoyed our visit, and are happy to recommend the hotel to others.

Mark and Joni, the owners, go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome. One example: I happened to mention to Mark that my partner, Jayne, didn't eat meat (though she would have been quite happy to have fish as a main course every night). He obviously passed this info on to Joni, and henceforth we were also offered three choices of vegetarian main course in the evenings as well. (We chose to eat at the Clontarf every night, though there is no obligation to do this.)

We stayed in the Peony Room, which is compact but has all the facilities needed. It was fine for a three-night stay, but for a longer break we would probably try to book one of the larger rooms. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we enjoyed watching the kitesurfers on the West Shore from the window. The free wi-fi, which worked in our room as well as downstairs in the lounge, was another plus for us.

The breakfasts at the Clontarf, as others have mentioned, are a particular delight. There is a huge range of choice, including full Welsh breakfast (with black pudding), and kippers, smoked salmon, smoked haddock, etc. There is also a veggie option with vegetarian sausages. A Clontarf breakfast definitely sets you up for the whole day.

Finally, we thought the prices charged were very reasonable. We also stay at a vegetarian hotel near Portmeirion, in a room admittedly larger than the Peony Room and with a bath rather than just a shower. Nonetheless, we were pleased to discover that our bill at The Clontarf (including food and drinks) was around £200 less than we normally pay for three days at the other hotel. Now that's value!

To sum up, if you're looking for a friendly, clean, comfortable, and good-value hotel in the Llandudno area, in our view The Clontarf ticks all the boxes. Oh yes, and they have an excellent website (designed by Joni) as well!
