Description: Watkins Co restaurant in Llandudno is an equation that comes out right every time. Take an award-winning restaurant, set it in one of Llandudnos top hotels, create an historic Victorian dining stuffed with formal elegance, add in an inventive chef with a dab hand at classic favourites and its elementary -- Watkins is a hit. Half the menu is seasonal, locally-sourced a la carte deliciousness, while the other half is a daily-changing table dhote menu offering excellent value. People love the home-made lasagne and the daily roast, but we recommend the more inventive creations, too. Watkins Cos service, impressive childrens menu and a pocket-friendly wine list get top marks.

“If price is the only measure of a good night out............”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013 via mobile

Have been here infrequently before, and it really doesn't change. Absolutely no one can challenge the price at the poolside restaurant, £17.50 for a three course meal and a quarter of a carafe of house wine, is cheap in any ones book. As a result the place is packed. There are two sittings and you are in and out in no time. Food is ok ish at the price. Ambience is also ok ish. Service is at best efficient. So to sum up, if you eat to live, and want to go out for a smart ish meal for the very least money you can spend, then this is for you. If you live to eat, enjoy the whole dining out in an evening experience - warm atmosphere, friendly, unhurried service, great food - then I would strongly suggest that you go elsewhere. I personally would prefer to go out less often and pay a bit more for a nicer experience, however, you pay your money, you take your choice!

“Poolside restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 September 2013

Was shown to our table promptly at 6:30. The three of us chose the 3 course set menu option which was reasonably priced. I had melon (can't go wrong here!) steak with vegetables and potatoes and apricot and almond tart to finish. The meal was an overall 'OK'. Nothing special. The Steak was a bit fatty and the red wine sauce that accompanied it had a slightly burnt tinge to it. My pudding was surprisingly nice however but my friend had exactly the same dessert and it was hard as rock! She complained and decided to have ice cream in it's place. Overall food was inconsistent in standard and the waitresses could have been a little friendlier. They also couldn't wait to turn the tables over so couldn't stay as long as we would have liked.

“Poolside restaurant great valve for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2013

We usually go to our golf club on a Friday night but because they had a big competition on we decided to find somewhere different. Our friends suggested the Empire and as we had not been there for years decide to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. A table by the poolside was just the ticket. Good friendly service, varied choice from the menu and you get a starter, main, dessert, coffee and a quarter carafe of wine for under £20. Excellent value for money. The only one gripe was that if you get drinks from the bar prior to you meal they won’t book them to your table as they say it’s a different department. However if you ask for extra drinks at your table they will add them to your bill!!!
