Very good local museum, surprisingly comprehensive, dating from prehistoric periods to 20th century.

“History Of Ipswich”
Reviewed 4 June 2012

This museum has a very good history of Ipswich section and is just the right size so that it does not take all day and does not get boring.
The only down side that I found when I visited was that some of the display cases in the bird section were a little too dark.

“Modernised but retains its perennial attraction”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

The rhinocerous, at the entrance, used to frighten the life out of me, when I was a young lad and is still an imposing sight these days.

Many 'new' rooms have been added these days, freshening up the potential starchiness of these types of educational venues but its 1800's interior simply adds to the grandeur of times long ago that we should not forget
