its free entry and well worth visiting.

the Museum is a wonderful Victorian building, the main gallery inside has wonderful models of animals as well as great examples of taxidermy. there is a great section on the history of Ipswich as well as an egyptian gallery and a roman gallery.

you can spend lots of time here and i cant wait until my son is old enough to appreciate it so i can go again.

There is only one thing to see at the museum and that is the Woolly Mammoth in the entrance hall. Entrance is FREE- perfect for a wet or cold day

Loved all the olde worlde stuffed animals and that it was still quite dark - just how I remembered it about 40 years ago!! My 5 year old loved it. A few interactive displays upstairs but a real, traditional museum. Not sure if there was a loo there? Guessing there must be but not too far away to dash to M&S if desperate! ... No tea room but not far from the town centre. Also, closed on a Sunday which is a shame.

I took my 2 year old grandson here for a hands on experience with animals, reptiles and insects. He absolutely loved it and also the extensive display of stuffed animals. Will definitely be visiting again.
