Description: This is a lovely Gastro Pub, the new owners took over in October 2009 and have fantastic plans. They only serve locally brewed Bitter and Lager plus a great wine list. Mike is a fantastic chef and the staff are always friendly, smiling and helpful. Lots of space for private parties or meetings. Daily fresh menu with local produce.

“a party success”

Celebrated a friend's birthday on a Sunday lunchtime ..... a large group of mixed ages. Food orders catered for everyone's needs and good children were served first so allowed adults to chat and eat their meals with minimal disturbance. Provided us with a side room and a table close by with games and crayons for the children. Excellent food, all arrived in good time and very generous portions. Would highly recommend it to friends planning a similar celebration. Only niggle.....some non-local people found it difficult to find so possibly improve signage.

“Quirky Building. Great Food”
Reviewed 9 February 2014 via mobile

Not the easiest place to find and a pretty scruffy location. However, once there, the staff are welcoming, helpful and efficient. We went for a quick lunch and although the wait for our food was rather longer than planned, it was without doubt worth waiting for. The burger was quite simply the best I have ever tasted, and I've eaten a few! Chips were perfect and the relish & salad delicious. Partner opted for confit of guinea fowl which he proclaimed perfect. An interesting selection of beers, but the glass of Merlot was the only disappointment. Very much looking forward to our next visit when we have more time (to include one of their tempting pudds.)

“Good”
Reviewed 3 February 2014

The food here was good and tasty but very over priced and the menu was not what we expected, there wasn't a very big choice, this may have been because it was a Sunday.... The pub itself seems to be in the middle of renovation but it's hard to tell!! As the night went on it got very chilly where we were sitting...so take a cardy. Don't know if we would go back...May in the summer next time.
