“Relaxing afternoon, taking in the sights”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

We took my grandad to Ipswich for his birthday and booked a trip on the river as surprise as he loves going on boats. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and wasn't over crowded considering the time of year that we went. Would highly recommend for a relaxing afternoon in the sun.

“rRver trip to Harwich”
Reviewed 30 September 2013

Saturday afternoon trip from Ipswich to Harwich and back.
Top deck is uncovered and could be cold if weather is not good. Lower deck has closed on seating area. Wheelchair access to top desk only as you have steep ships steps to get to lower deck.
Good trip, captain very knowledgeable about history of river. Very interesting to see see massive container ships at Harwich.
Small area on lower deck selling snacks, tea, coffee & limited alcoholic drinks.
Would recommend that you before hand - although you can pay on the day.
Public car park in front of area where you meet the boat.

“Afternoon Tea Cruise, Pin Mill”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

This was excellent. Despite visiting this area of Suffolk for the past 20 years or so, we saw a vista that was new to us. We booked at the excellent Ipswich Tourist Info Centre, there seems no facility for online.

The boat is reasonably comfortable (take a cushion and have a warm wrap for 'that' breeze). Below deck has cushions and warmer. This was the last Afternoon Tea Cruise of this season - the sandwiches had an excellent choice - the scones, cakes, etc. superb.

Next year when we're down again, we intend to try and book for the Harwich Afternoon Tea - or maybe an evening rave-up, or like Pinewoodblue below, do both!

“An eye opener to the world and development of international trade”
Reviewed 19 September 2013

Whilst the river trip is interesting and through most attractive countryside and marinas, with a very informative narrative, the highlight is to understand the 19th century importance of Harwich as an early departure point for the continent of Europe and to compare that with the enormity and modernity of Felixstowe.

“August 2013”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Having decided we wanted to cruise the Orwell estuary we couldn't make our minds between a wine tasting cruise on .friday or a 60's disco cruise the following evening. Since they were so different we did both. The wine tasting was lead by staff from Adnams and the 30 or so passengers tasted 3 white wines, a Rose and 4 reds, with generous servings. The staff we excellent, the bar was also open and a goodtime was had by all. Would do it again. The 60's disco cruise was equally good with around 80 on board. On both cruises there was an excellent two course buffet the food bring of good quality and different on both nights. The bar prices were reasonable and the staff friendly. Would not hesitate to recommend both these cruises, or any of the other operated. The Orwell is an excellent estuary for this time of boat trip with lots to admire.
