I visit Hollow Trees regularly as a couple and as a family with grandchildren. The atmosphere is good and both service and menu very good. Caters well for children with crayons and pictures to colour. Food sourced locally and freshly prepared. The shop and farm trail are excellent

We live very near to Hollow Trees and have visited many times. I have two children, aged three and one and they enjoy this every time we go. The farm trail is great for young walkers as it is a great length and the children can be out of the pushchair. It can get muddy in winter but it is to be expected on a farm. It is great value for money. All the activities are wonderful and the cafe and food have always been great quality.

I’m a bit confused by the previous review. I recently took my fussy daughter (who also has a dairy intolerance) to Hollow Trees and the coffee shop. I asked the staff when we arrived to check about what she could have and they were more than happy to help and accommodate her fussiness !! The children’s menu was great and there was loads of choice for her as is the main menu for us adults so we will definitely be back. I’m actually not sure which restaurants, coffee shops etc would let you take your own food in, isn’t that what picnic areas are for ?! We also had a great time around the farm trail, feeding the goats and chickens and for £2.50 each you cant go wrong.

We had a nice day on the farm trail lots of animals to see and feed our granddaughter loved it, we then went for some lunch. The tea room was empty my daughter gave my granddaughter a sandwich we brought with us as she is a fussy eater. When our food arrived we were told my 2yr old granddaughter could not eat her own food how crazy is that. We will not return as my granddaughter seems unwelcome, Hollow trees management please get some sense and get your act together involving toddlers.

It is our policy that only food produced in our coffee shop can be consumed in our coffee shop ,sadly, due to past experiences. We have taken on board previous comments and created an extensive children's menu that can be seen on our web site. It offers everything from baby food and sandwiches to hot meals. Our chefs will always try very hard to accommodate any variation, whether it is for a fussy child or one with a severe allergy. Any further menu suggestions are always appreciated. We have also created some designated areas, complete with hand wash facilities , on the Farm Trail for those who would prefer to picnic.

If the entry fee were a lot higher - 2.50, I would say it was not worth it but at that price you would have to be very precious not to find plenty to enjoy. The children - 4 and 3 years loved it all. There were ingenious methods of feeding the goats - a conveyor belt wound up to the goats standing on a tower, who took the food from little buckets on the belt. Our little boy loved winding the belt round and round. There is a very comprehensive play area as well as, ponies, lamas, sheep, pigs, birds, rabbits and guinea pigs. The picnic area with the tractors to sit on was a big hit too. The route is well marked and the going easy. Plenty of free parking with overflow parking over the road. The farm shop is good and the garden centre reliable. I have bought plants and vegetables here all of which have been of good quality. There is obviously a lot of improvement going on, but the dump trucks and diggers proved a big hit too. The restaurant is good but quite pricey. A fun and informative 2 hours were spent here.
