“A superb place to stay”

Superb in every way. Fabulous room, overlooking the marina and in old part of hotel so felt like a loft conversion with plenty of space and character. Two huge chairs so you can rwad or watch TV without lying on the bed, great features all round. Food very good, we had the "grape escape" option which was great value (but if staying more than 2 nights can be a bit repetitive - they may change that) But beautifully prepared and presented. Staff - to a person in whatever department) so helpful and pleasant whilst being just casual enough to make it friendly whilst respectful.
Used it as a base to explore Suffolk and that worked very well Some good restaurants (chains and independent) within a short walk so very easy to vary the options.
Couldn't ask for more in a hotel!.

Room Tip: 206 was fabulous

Yes, everyone else can ramble on about what a lovely location it is, how well presented the rooms are, how the blackboard specials in the restaurant are good food reasonably priced, how there's only a small car park but that doesn't really matter as you just leave your keys with reception and let them worry about it, how there's no shortage of power sockets in the room and there's strong WiFi everywhere.

But some travellers crave excitement, like nothing more than to be pinned against the wall of the shower cubicle, pummeled relentlessly by a hundred tiny jets of water, barely able to contain their joy at the stresses and strains of a long day being removed as if one were using an industrial jetwash to free a butterfly from its cocoon. This is one of those rare delights, but please, for your own safety don't turn the dial past two ...

We stayed here for one night in March and the hotel was in easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. The room was great, the bed was a little hard (but that's just me).

So overall a great hotel in a great location. Well worth a visit.

We stayed here for one night as dining at nearby Mariners Restaurant and the hotel was in easy walking distance.
The room was stunning, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed. Views over waterfront.
The only negative was the pillows were like marshmellows, it would be a good idea to have a choice of pillows (may be putting firmer pillows in wardrobe)
The full english breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day
Staff were very welcoming and helpful
There is a small car park to side of hotel. If you use this you have to give your keys to hotel as the cars get moved around depending on the comings and goings of guests

Room Tip: A room overlooking the waterfront

I booked a surprise "Decadent Getaway" for my wife's birthday...and I must say, I was bowled over by every single aspect of the hotel.
We were welcomed by an extremely friendly and polite receptionist who swiftly checked us in and pointed us to our room, and booked us in for afternoon tea for the same afternoon.
Our chosen room was one of the Sail Loft Marina rooms, with an unrivalled view of the marina, and a magnificent copper bath.
Once settled we shared a lovely afternoon tea, consisting of sandwiches, scones and cakes...all very civilised.
The main event was a 4 course evening meal, which frankly exceeded my expectations. The beef fillet was truly superb...as was the service, the restaurant ambience, and the expert wine pairing advice.
After finishing a sumptuous meal, we retired to a huge, very comfortable bed, and were awoken by breakfast being delivered to our room next morning. To sit in the room with the balcony doors open and admiring the view whilst eating is a memory I'll cherish...almost as much as the memory of enjoying the view from the showpiece copper bath..!
All in all, I truly would not hesitate to recommend a stay here...in fact, treat a loved one to a Decadent Getaway...not cheap, but worth every last penny.

Room Tip: The Sail Loft Marina rooms have a great view, and a bath to die for. The Penthouse rooms are lovely...

For regular weekly stays over three months it has been comfortable and at corporate rate ,good value. The location on the new quayside is very pleasant in an otherwise ordinary town.
The menu has some interesting tasty options but could be better when it comes to fish. The restaurant decor is modern, art bistro . They would sell more wine if prices were lower ! Bedrooms are very comfortable with my preference being for those at the side of the building as the front rooms can get cold due to wind off the sea.It is used by a lot of visiting overseas corporate employees which can be a good indicator.

Room Tip: Side family room for one is very comfortable to offset the smaller rooms with a view

Having been here for Sunday lunch last year my husband and I thought we'd come for dinner and spend the night. We had been recommended by various friends and had enjoyed our Sunday lunch so pretty much thought we were on to a winner. When we arrived the staff were lovely and we went straight up to our room. It was a pretty average hotel room and frankly as it advertises itself as a boutique hotel, I had expected something more classy. We went down to the bar for pre-dinner drinks and ordered some wasabi cashew nuts to go with our drinks. They were soggy and tasteless and we sent them back! Then there was a power cut, the whole marina area was blacked out ( not the hotels fault) the staff were great running around with candles and trying their best to reassure all guests that they were sorting it out. When it was all sorted we went in to dinner, my stater was delicious but my main course, coley was very dry as was my husbands duck breast. On Sunday morning we were woken up at 9am by the fire alarm (false alarm). The bed was very comfortable but although the pillows looked great, they were like marshmallows!! They just completely flattened down and were most uncomfortable. The staff were lovely and attentive but the food was not to the standard that I had expected nor was the room.
We would go back as overall we had a good time and we would recommend it but they just need to brush up on a few annoyances.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a balcony
