“Nice place to get away and stay somewhere for the night”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

The hotel over all was very nice, the room had exactly what you'd need. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food wasn't expensive at all, and was a go so value for the price, the only small problem was they're wasn't a great variety to choose from, but it was still very nice! The pool area is by far the best feature in this hotel, very clean! The only one negative feedback I have about this was the wifi connected was very poor! But other than that we enjoyed our nights stay here and would definely return and recommend!

We've stayed a few times. The rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment, but beds comfortable and rooms clean. However, when very full due to a wedding came to make up our room at about 5pm when we were about to get ready to go out, so had to decline. Staff always very friendly and helpful though, just sounds like under staffing. Breakfast usually plentiful and good, but when busy had to ask for more bread and what came out was 3 rounds of stale white bread, the small things matter!

We visited here over the May Bank Holiday. This was our second stay after a gap of six years. Much to our delight nothing seems to have changed. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms were great, breakfast and dinner excellent. My most vivid memory from our last stay was the magnificent wood paneling in the first part of the dining room. If anything the grounds were even better than before. We left determined to return much sooner than before.

On Sunday 11th May, my husband and I celebrated our $0th Anniversary with a three course meal in the Orwell Room. We were met by Thalia, head of waiting who was deputising for Vicki, Events manager. She and her team were charming, polite and thoroughly organised throughout the day. We saw the room and put flowers and placenames where we wanted them . Tables had been arranged attractively and we were shown the cloakroom and nearest facilities etc. Thalia discussed and checked all arrangements before our guests arrived at 12.30p.m. We enjoyed welcome drinks served to us in the garden bar followed by our meal and speeches. All our guests said how much they enjoyed the day and how happy and helpful the waiting team were. Everything was perfect and we would thoroughly recommend this Hotel and its excellent friendly service. Mrs Linda Moss, Ipswich.

Went with a friend to Belstead Brook Hotel as they had advertised half price treatments with use of leisure facilities so we booked a facial each along with lunch. Facial was £18.00 for an hour and it was excellent, therapist was very gentle and pleasant and room was a great setting. For lunch we paid £8.50 and had a choice of sandwich, cake and hot drink. I chose the hummus with goats cheese, pesto and peppers and my friend chose brie and cranberry. They were really nice, generous amount of filling along with tortilla chips and nice salad, we both chose cake of the day which was lemon drizzle and a tea and a coffee. All really tasty and saved £2.00 by ordering in advance. Thank you to the gentleman that told me about the lunch deal.
Poolside was very relaxing as not very busy. Made use of the pool, Jacuzzi and sauna (steam room) wasn't working, all very nice. Staff very friendly and Kieran the new apprentice made us feel very welcome. Showers and hairdryers all worked well and very spacious changing rooms. Useful to have swimming costume dryer as you left as well.
Only criticism was that when we arrived we were asked to pay for our lunch and robe hire and then had to pay for our facial when we left. Would have been easier to pay the complete bill all at once.

The hotel used to be an old English manor house, I think I read somewhere parts date back to 16th century, we were glad it had that gorgeous old English style. The reception, bar and dining areas are beautiful with wood paneling and beams in contrast the leisure centre is modern and clean. We booked an executive room which was larger and had balcony overlooking the gardens and brook. The room was old fashioned but was clean and appeared freshly decorated. The fixtures and fittings where older but of high quality and so in our opinion didn't need updating. We wanted a relaxing weekend to de-stress and this was the perfect place, although the hotel is very close to the A12 and a large housing estate it is cleverly hidden away amongst it's gardens and trees which means it is quiet and peaceful. The large Jacuzzi, sauna and pool add to therelaxtion.
We were a bit concerned when we heard there was a large function on the Saturday night but the bed rooms were well away from function rooms and we couldn't hear the music.
Our stay was faultless until late Saturday night when a group of guests who were old enough to know better began drunken shouting and banging doors, keeping us awake until 4am.

Room Tip: Definitely worth upgrading to an executive room.

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us and for the complimentary comments concerning the facilities and services that we provided. We were delighted to learn that you found them to your satisfaction. We were of course sorry that you were disturbed during the night by other guests. It is a shame when some people do not show due consideration to their fellow guests, although fortunately this is a rare occurrence at the hotel. We hope to be able to welcome back to the hotel in the future.
