“Nice surprise”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

It certainly doesn't look much from the outside, but what a nice surprise when you walk through to the bar. Great seating, friendly and fast bar staff and some of the nicest food we have had in a pub. My husband rated his as the best gourmet burger ever, and the childrens nuggets and sausages were of very good quality. We had chocolate-filled churros to share for pudding, it was just divine. First rate pub grub.

“Very good”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

I moved to the Ipswich area a few months ago and have been struggling to find somewhere good to have lunch around the town centre area. Most places are tea/coffe and cake cafes or fast food joints.

I walked past the Cock and Pye pub a few times and as it's a very tiny front did not realise how big it was. Only when I went in with grown kids (who wanted a pint) did I realise the inside went way back and is really very nice.

Food choice is excellent and a party of 7 of us (including a ten year old) all had something different and it was all good and freshly cooked. Another review said it was a 'Weatherspoons type' place but the food was much, much better than any Weatherspoon I've ever used! The food was so cheap as well! We paid less than £45 for meals, a couple of deserts and drinks (both alcholic and soft drinks).

Choice of real ales and local ciders excellent. Planning to go back with hubby who has decided he will leave the car at home one Saturday, go on our local bus and get 'bladdered' while I try somethng else on the menu.

“Lovely place to lunch”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

Visited here with my mum during a shopping trip and liked the variety on the menu. We both chose the deli deal in which you could choose from 6-8 different fillings, 5/6 types or bread, 5/6 sides and a drink for £5.99 each. I went for the hand battered fish with citrus mayo, multigrain bread, fries and coke and mum had the BBQ pulled pork and coleslaw on baguette with fries and coke. Placed the order with a really friendly guy at the bar and it was delivered in 15 minutes, very impressed. Tasted fantastic and very good value for money. Will definitely be returning when next in the area!

“A nice little pub”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

A nice, comfortable pub in a good location within the town. They seem to do well for food, although I can only comment on the drinks, which were good. Service at the bar not always the quickest and staff don't really interact with the customers.
