“Ideal for an early pre Regent meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 January 2014

The location of the Baipo is ideal if you are attending a performance at the Regent theatre. It is serving from 6:00pm so we were able to have a lovely meal at leisure before the performance at 8:00pm. The service was excellent and the food delicious, especially the weeping tiger/cow!

“Great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 January 2014

I ate here with my two daughters recently. The food was excellent and very good service. I don't think it's expensive for the quality and of what you get. I had Weeping Tiger (beef steak, I hasten to add - not tiger)! It was wonderful - the best steak dish I have ever had. Thoroughly recommended and worthy of 5 stars.

“Good food but expensive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2013

Went to the baipo on a Friday night and it was deserted. The food was very tasty and arrived quickly but the meal was quite expensive, definitely not a budget night out!

“Very average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2013

Ate here this week and found the food no more than average. The dated interior didn't particularly put us off as everything was clean and tidy. The food however was disappointing and lacked the punch you expect in Thai food, not just heat but spicing. We ordered Thai green curry and asked for medium heat (Thai hot is HOT) but there was barely any heat at all! Tom Yum soup, again ordered medium heat, was better. Duck dish with tamarind sauce pleasant but not worth £13. The quality of ingredients was fine but the cooking lacked refinement. The dessert menu perhaps gave the clue as to how the restaurant is focussed - pre-made desserts, no mango sticky rice. The only Thai dessert was a coconut custard which tasted marginally better than it looked. At £27 per head with two drinks and service, unfortunately not worth the money.

Have been to Thailand lots of times and know you'll never completely replicate what you eat there here, but pretty disappointing overall, as we thought we'd finally found a good Thai restaurant in the area and so wanted to like it.
