I recently stayed at this hotel with my family to attend a wedding reception there. I cannot fault anything about our stay. The rooms were spotless, comfortable and well equipped. The food was exceptional;our evening meal was beautifully cooked, and the breakfast served in the pleasantly calm restaurant went down a treat! Above all the staff were helpful and friendly. It is a pleasure to stay in a hotel with staff who so obviously enjoy their work and who work so well together.Thankyou and well done....keep up the good work.

My family and I stayed at this hotel whilst visiting friends and family in Hertfordshire. We have used Holiday Inns and other chains of hotel on various occasions over the years while on family breaks but I can honestly say that the overall quality of service in the Stevenage hotel was by far the best.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful and made our check in very efficient and easy. The bar and restaurant staff were equally friendly and accomodating towards us and soon made friends with my 2 children.
The room we stayed in was a family room and was very clean and well maintained and was well equiped with mod cons and other facilities. Due to the fact that the hotel is only a few years old it was all pretty much to the same high standard as our room.
In the evening we sat in the bar area and ordered off the bar menu. The food that was served was much better than what you'd expect when ordering bar food and was served by a friendly face which makes a really nice change from the normal sour faces which have served the food during our recent hotel breaks.
The breakfast was buffet style, as expected, consisting of cereals, pastries, cold meats and cheeses as well as an excellent selection of hot foods which were superbly cooked and blooming tastey! This was all served in the modern dining area which has to be said looked like new.
Well done Holiday Inn Stevenage, it's good to come across a hotel that looks after its customers and premises so well.

My friend and I stayed here last weekend when we went to the Craft Show at Alexandra Palace. We travelled down by train and the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the station. The reception staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. We were allocated 2 rooms on the 5th floor and it seemed as though we were the only guests as it was extremely quiet. The rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. There was some noise from the road/railway but when the window was closed it was minimal and did not disturb either of us. We did not use the restaurant or bar as we were out all day so cannot comment on that aspect of the hotel. Also if the hotel isn't too busy you can extend your check out time till 2.00pm which is helpful. Stevenage itself doesn't have a lot going for it except for it's close proximity to London (£10 return on the train). Walking to the hotel you have to use the underpass which may be a bit daunting if you were on your own but in spite of this I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a weekend break and would definitely stay here again if I was visiting London.

I stay in Stevenage for business regularly. I have always been surprised at the paucity of hotel choices in this substantial town. It was a delight then, when the opening of a new Holiday Inn was announced.

My experiences so far don't substantiate that initial delight.

Reception staff have a perfunctory, functional attitude and were no help at all when I lost my car parking token (you have to pay approximately £7 per night to use the council car park over the busy four lane road unless you have an exec room).

The restaurant is shambolic - wrong orders, highly variable quality, long waiting times etc. My German colleague could not believe the poor quality of his meal and refused to eat there.Breakfast is OK to good. Rooms are fine and there is a mini-gym but I haven't used it. The location of the hotel is not the best - if on foot you're pretty much stuck with what the hotel can offer.

To be honest, there is a better priced Holiday Inn Express less than 100 metres away, with free parking (but no restaurant). For a one night stay on business I would advise either using that hotel if being central is important, or the Novotel on the edge of town - car or taxi needed here.

In summary - this is a franchise hotel and the owners have so far missed the opportunity to introduce a smart, efficient, quality hotel to downtown Stevenage. First job - get that restaurant and kitchen sorted out - it's an embarassment.

I stayed here whilst away with work. I found the hotel to be immaculately clean. There was a good breakfast. The standard of the rooms was better than other Holiday Inns i've stayed in and all the staff were pleasant.

On the downside it is in a horrible area with the dark tunnels for pedestrians to access it via.

the staff are pretty friendly, the rooms are new and fairly well decorated but the whole thing feels like it's been done on the cheap. i have stayed in most of the rooms here and they all suffer from road noise as the double glazing isn't up to much and if you have one of the disabled rooms near the risers you can hear the contents of the toilets in the rooms above you whoosing past every 20 mins or so.

the biggest issue here is the parking, i have read it described as opposite, technically this is very true. in practice this means a 5 minute walk under a dual carriageway in a dank underpass that feels intimidating especially at night and especially if you were a lone female. this walk is also no fun in the rain with a suitcase, a couple of shirts and a laptop bag (for the bits not in the underpass). the parking bays on site are not clearly marked, some say you can't park in them (implying you can park in the others) but you can't park in any of them.

this is where the hotel lets itself down as business hotels are all about convinience, this is not very convinient. it is still the best option in stevenage but that says more about the others than this one!

Stayed for 1 night while on a theatre trip to London.
Hotel is modern and tastefully decorated, rooms were spottlessly clean ,food delicious and overnight stay was very comfortable indeed.
We had a slight problem when going down for dinner because dining room was busy and looked full. However the manager was on the ball and allocated a table that looked as though it was set for a party which had seated elsewhere. Most impressed to see actual manager of hotel assisting waitresses. All staff pleasent and helpfull.
I would stay there again.
