Owner description: Remembering past sacrifice to inspire future generations. Many brave and selfless RNLI volunteers are remembered proudly in their local communities. However, the RNLI memorial sculpture in Poole is the only place where each and every one of them is named together. The RNLI hopes that future generations of lifeboat crew, lifeguards, supporters and fundraisers will find it a source of inspiration. Ultimately, the memorial reminds us all that there are still people who volunteer to carry out selfless acts of heroism to help others - we will always remember their sacrifice.

This is one of our favourite sculptures anywhere on the world and is worth seeing both in the sunlight and when lit at night.

A great monument and an excellent photo opportunity. It is shocking to realise gown many people over so many years have given their lives trying to save people at sea.

Looking over this sculpture it reminds me of everything the RNLI have done here in Poole, and the lives they have saved and the lives lost saving, it is a beautiful thing to have set up

One of the best memorials for demonstrating the valour of those remembered. I defy you not to feel obligated to read all the names!
It also makes a great photograph!
Don't miss it, but then go to the RNLI shop, and eat in the restaurant, great trip!

This memorial is so moving in it's simplicity. Take a few moments to read all the names of those lost, whole families lost fathers ,brothers. The sculpture certainly encapsulates what the Lifeboat crews do, and what they risk. It really brings it home to you. Don't miss it..
