My husband & I spent a weekend here in May, & can't praise it enough. It is an ideal base for exploring the area around Poole & Swanage. The College is mainly used as residential accommodation during the week for training lifeboat men, but they let out unused rooms when they are available. All rooms are double with en-suite facilities & big picture windows overlooking the harbour. They have TV & WiFi & are very comfortable. The RNLI run a couple of guided tours on Saturdays round the training centre (connected by a walkway with the College) - do go, they are very interesting & include the pool where all sea conditions can be simulated, & a full-size simulator of their largest lifeboat. We were on a bed & breakfast package, but you could eat lunch & dinner there in the restaurant if you didn't want to go out. There is also secure parking .

Room Tip: All the rooms are identical, with the same harbour views. There are good lifts to the upper floors

Hi happyhilly47

Thank you for your kind review with tripadvisor. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. The College tours are a great way of seeing how crews are trained for their live saving work. As you quite rightly point out, our primary purpose if as a the training College for RNLI, but we make use of available rooms and function space for our supporters. Every £ spent at RNLI College helps support saving lives at sea.
Thank you.

Richard

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the RNLI College. We had a famly room which was a double bed (very comfortable) and one single bed and there was sufficient space to move around easily. The location is perfect and we were visiting Poole with the purpose of visiting the speedway which was a 10 minute walk - perfect!
Although the weather was not kind to us it was really lovely to sit and watch the boats although my one small criticism would be that our bedroom window needed a good clean (mostly inside). With this the view would have been even more outstanding.
Well done RNLI look forward to visiting again.

An absolute joy, excellent rooms, service, amenities and food
Added bonus that for every penny spent, a percentage goes towards helping this wonderful Organisation
We have travelled extensively abroad and can honestly say the College ranks with the best of 5 star Hotels anywhere
Try it and see, you will not be disappointed

HI KYZphotography

Thank you for taking the time to review RNLI College with tripadvisor and for your kind comments. Although we are a 5 star hotel, we do have a genuine desire to reflect the same level of warmth in our hospitality to our supporters as we try to offer our volunteer lifeboat crew and lifeboatcrew and lifeguards.

Thank you for supporting the RNLI save lives at sea.

Regards
Richard

We stayed at the College over the Jubilee bank holiday. The view was brilliant of the harbour and could have spent all day in the room looking at the boats coming in and out of the harbour!

The room was a decent size and clean and tidy. Tea/Coffee making facilites in room and everything else you could possible need including the dove soap dispensers in the Bathroom.
The only thing that would have been nice was access to a water dispenser to get clean fresh drinking water.

It is well located and withing walking distance of both the shopping centre and the main harbour where there are plenty of eating places and shops as well as daily boat trips that leave from the harbour.

Whilst staying there we went on the free tour that is included for anyone staying at the college and it gave a good insight to what the RNLI do and we enjoyed the lifeboat simulator that was included in the tour.

The thing we found is that the College does not seem to promote their tours/accomodation enough and we only found out about it after the trawling through the internet for ages so think they may get more business if they were to advertise more widely, however saying that if it was busier we may not have been able to get a room during the busy weekend!

Overall we enjoyed staying at the College, and it is nice to know that a percentage of what you spend at the College goes to the RNLI charity to help save life's.

We will be recommending to friends and family and would stay there again if we were in the area.
