“Superb B & B”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

We booked a last minute break to the Viewpoint Guesthouse for the 24th - 26th July 2013. When we arrived we were met by Heather who was extremely friendly and helpful. She showed us to the family room which was perfect for our family of 5, a double room with a triple room attached, both with TV's which was perfect as we didn't have to watch what the kids were watching. This room is equivalent to a family room we have recently stayed in at a 5* hotel. The immaculate and newly furbished accommodation was separate to the main house which was an added bonus as we didn't have to all trail through the house.

The breakfast was excellent with an amazing selection of fruit, juices, yogurts, cereals along with the Full English, Kippers and toast - very well organised.

The weather was amazing whilst there and after a fun day out we arrived back and fancied a drink sat in the family garden. Perfect sun trap and place for a few G & T's prior to going out for our evening meal. Steve even joined us which was nice.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone (especially for a family of 5 as finding accommodation for 5 is not always easy) - Awesome place! Thank you Steve and Heather.

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review after your recent stay with us with your family. Glad you enjoyed the separate family suite and also that you were able to enjoy the warm weather by sitting in the garden. Hope to see you again at some time in the future and don't work too hard in your Fish and Chip Shop!

stayed here for a long weekend, what a fantastic place. A large comfortable room, with a superb bathroom. Breakfast was enough to last the day, a great selection, and delicious full English! Steve and Heather were very friendly, and couldn't have been more helpful, with great advice on where to go, and places to eat. We will most definitely be going back soon.

We were booked on an early ferry to Cherbourg and stayed at Viewpoint for one night previous to the crossing. We were met by Heather who was friendly and polite - showed us our very comfy room - complete with fridge which was a bonus. Very clean room and ensuite. Five minutes drive to port and a lovely breakfast was provided - full English if required - with plenty of fruit yoghurt etc - as early as requested to enable us to arrive at the ferry on time. Parking very convenient and bus stop opposite if needed to go into Poole. Certainly deserve a five star rating - thanks for a great start to our holiday.

After a long boat trip we arrived at the guest house. The accomodation was excellent. The breakfast is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach, something for everyone. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again, soon I hope.

After a long journey on a bike on a hot day we found that we had been directed to the wrong place by an incorrect postcode on the guesthouse website. After calling to confirm the postcode we arrived by there was no apology made for the incorrect details which gave us a detour of approx 10 miles.

We then found that the guest house did not take card payments, which was not advertised previously. As we were leaving early on the ferry the next morning this led to another journey out for cash.

We were put off by the fact our room backed onto the owners garden terrace and there was some building work going on so we went out for the evening instead of staying in the room. The room was extremely warm, with no air conditioning, which led to an uncomfortable nights sleep.

On the plus side the room was clean and breakfast is served early.

thank you for taking the time to write a review after your recent visit. I would like to address the negative comments you made -

At the time of your visit you arrived at about 2 p.m. in the afternoon. We were indeed having a new boiler fitted at the time and there was some work going on but the noise was not carried on after 5 pm. which we believe to the reasonable.

The day of your visit we were indeed in the middle of a 'heatwave' and so bedrooms were hot but the room you were in does have a patio door and you could have slept with the door open to let in fresh air. I do not believe you will find any Guest House in England that has air conditioning! The Annexe does indeed overlook the garden and as we are a family run guest house we do sit outside when we have finished work but guests are also welcome to use the garden. I hope these comments clarify the situation with regards to your comments.
With reference to having to pay cash, unfortunately the card machine was out of order but card payments are normally accepted.

I recently stayed here with my daughter and grandsons, we stayed in the attic family room which is a very good size.

The breakfast we had was very nice indeed , we loved Poole, the children spent an amazing afternoon crabbing on the dock.
