“Hotel with optional service”
Reviewed 29 November 2013

Seriously. Holiday Inn Express is hardly the sort of place you want to review. This chain is so vanilla that you could be in the McDonalds of hotel chains. Just occasionally they find ways to make the experience annoying not anonymous. The evening staff at Poole HI Ex seemed to like the comfort of the inside office and actually serving at the front desk a bit of a chore! Staff wandered around in and out of the back office seemingly as it suited them. I waited a full 5 minutes to be checked in at 6 p.m. My colleague waited longer at around 5:30. Did the arrival of guests after the end of the work day to a business traveller's hotel come as a surprise to these people? Later in the bar the same experience. Just all round poor!

Just to stress the morning staff were much more on the ball and more than helpful so maybe someone (Mr General Manager) needs to look at his staff and perhaps coach some proper customer service skills.

Dear UKviaAus,

We thank you for taking time to review our hotel we really value your feedback. We are sorry that you find our service substandard and had to wait on check in and bar service. I am surprised as this is by no means our standard of service and thus I request you to please contact me and provide me further details to enable us to introspect to avoid reoccurrence. I am touch relieved that morning staff did meet your expectations.

We once again apologize and humbly request you to please contact me so I can discuss your problem experience in detail.

Kind Regards

We paid £76.00 for the room which we thought was very reasonable, first impressions were good, staff were friendly however we did get charged for parking.

We booked a double room however we got a family room which was fine however the sofa bed and been made up we therefore had to unmake it to give ourselves more room! Heating in the room had a mind of its own and only start to work properly the morning we left! Found the double bed to be pretty uncomfortable and did not sleep well.

The most disappointing part for me was the breakfast, I have never had such an awful breakfast, after looking forward to a nice full english, we were faced with an extremely substandard buffet style breakfast, the hot breakfast comprised of a clear plastic heated cupboard with doors which held dried up hash browns, sausage, powdered and disgusting tasting scrabbled egg and baked beans (yes not a rasher of bacon in sight)! the toast machine was a joke and the toast came out like warmed up bread! after giving up after 2 disgusting mouthfuls I decided to play it safer and tried a croissant, only managed 1 bit! again, hard and dried up!

Having paid £76 we didn't expect too much and albeit annoyed by the standard of food didn't complain. We would have done had we stayed the next weekend as we saw on the internet that they were quoting £117 per night!

Please contact me on deputy@hiexpoole.co.uk to discuss your problem experiences.

We stiill look forward to welcom you in near future.

I must ask why have hotels got this idea that it would be really good to charge their punters to park their cars on the hotel premises. After paying for parking and renting the room for a night I paid for possibly the worst breakfast ever served up by a so called hotel.
I think we as the consumer should boycott any hotel that charges to park along with any other establishment especially theme parks for goodness sake if you are using their car park then obviously you have paid to enter it is a bloody disgrace that we allow this to continue

Room Tip: Stay in a B&B they don't charge to park and would serve up a superior breakfast

Stayed here for two nights on business - has easy parking, is an easy walk to the town centre and has all you need for business including free wifi which is a bit slow but works OK.
Rooms are a little tatty but comfortable enough. Bar is OK (not great) and only has a limited selection of food, but the veggie curry I had was tasty and great value. Breakfast is OK and quick as self-serve.

We stayed one night only as we were visiting Poole. Pretty clean, comfortable room and nice bed with choice of pillow :) Free wifi access and nice breakfast. Close distance to shops and nice pond to walk around. Thank you to Robert and Kamil as you both were very nice and helpful. It was really nice of Kamil when he prepared and provide us useful information on local events and gave us directions. I would recommend it.x

This Hotel is a gem, from the memento you walk in the staff are emailing and really welcome you.
They are considerate, helpful, and genuinely want to assist.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the rooms are special, they are of a high standard, the beds are
to "die for". My wife and myself stayed one night to see a show at the "lighthouse theatre". we
were within a short walking distance, and parking was available.
I don`t usually write reviews, but this "little gem" is heaven to the traveller.
Well done to all the happy staff who went out of their way to assist us to enjoy ourselves.
By the way Breakfast was provided.

Very well done Holiday Inn Express Visit was on 16.11.2013

Room Tip: We were on the third(top floor) which was excellent
