Gate of India come out as being one the better restaurants in Poole. I tried it on a weekday evening in January. Restaurant was quiet when I arrived but soon became busier. Clearly Gate of India has a lot of people returning judging by the conversations and greetings between the staff and patrons.
I received a warm welcome from the staff who remained attentive throughout. They willingly adapted a dish for me without any problem. Food was very good without being exceptional. Prices reasonable.
Decor is traditional and looking a little worn in places.
This struck me as being a good, reliable and traditional Indian restaurant - no bells and whistles, just doing what it does, and doing it well.
