“Loved this Hotel”
Reviewed 29 September 2007

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in September and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our room was spacious and very clean and had the most wonderful view over the Harbour. As we had our own balcony we could sit out and enjoy the view and watch the world go by. Our stay encluded extras and the iced champagne, bowl of fruit and chocolates were beautifully presented and very much enjoyed.
The staff in the Hotel and the restaurant were very attentive and polite and could not do enough for us and always seemed happy in their work. We enjoyed leisurely meals and they were excellently presented and tasted just as good. Yes there was a wedding taking place on our stay but the music was not loud and ended at 12.00. Obviously the hotel car park gets full on these occassions but there is plenty of parking in the side roads with no restrictions. We would certainly be visiting this hotel again - hopefully very soon.

Stayed here for one night on a spur of the moment decision. Got a great last minute deal over the 'phone. Somehow ended up with the only ? sea view room with balcony at a reduced rate, even though we only booked at 12:00 that day.

Despite other reviews on this site, we found the staff very helpful and friendly. Evening meal was superb. Enjoyed drinks on the terrrace overlooking the harbour and a fantastic 5 course meal, again with views over the harbour and the sunset. The meal lasted for 3 hours, but this is not a complaint, when the food is this good who cares if it lasts a long time. Staff were very attentive, kept the glasses full etc. Champagne is nearly as cheap/expensive as the wine in the 60 (from memory) page wine list.

The room was big enough and well equipped. We enjoyed a balcony with table and chairs overlooking the harbour. We were also above the restaurant and because there was a wedding reception in part of the hotel we could hear/enjoy the music. This ended at midnight and in no way spoilt our stay (we quite enjoyed it), however not everyone may share the same opinion.

The bed was a kingsize and was wonderfully soft. but solid at the same time, if that makes sense. Unlike other reviewers we did not feel the need to remove the mattress to find out how the bed was made !

Overall, we had a great night away from it all. The hotel was quite expensive, but we could not fault it or the staff.

This is in a lovely location, great views and had a very enjoyable stay.

We had a harbour facing room which had the most spectacular views, the decor and up keep of the hotel is of first class standard and the terrace an absolute gem.

Regarding the staff, the reception staff were very helpful, polite and welcoming. There was a slight language problem with some of the staff, I do personally believe that all staff should speak English, even basic level, if you are interacting with guests. I did find the restaurant manager a little impatient and not the overall pleasant attitude I would expect of a hotel of this standard.

However, though the hotel is a little pricey, I felt that it was justified in mostly all aspects.

I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for an excellent class of hotel in a superb location!

Couldn’t rate this hotel enough. Took my girlfriend for a surprise evening and could find no fault apart from the all the rain. Fabulous staff, excellent service and fantastic food! Would recommend to friends and family.

Stayed at Harbour Heights for one night D, B &B and whilst generally good, some things could be improved. Made reservation direct with hotel and not told that dinner meant just a £25 pp allowance. As main courses £21 - 24, this is clearly not sufficient to cover 2 / 3 courses and coffee - this is more like £50 pp. Rooms good (but some v small), views fantastic but service sometimes poor. We were refused cake with tea at 5.02pm as they finished serving at 5pm and waited over half and hour for any service at breakfast. Once ordered though, quality very good. There was also a wedding the evening we went which dominated the hotel and therefore very noisy and too busy to relax and enjoy great food. Overall, would try again and hope for better weather to enjoy the fantastic location and some real improvement in the areas above to justify the c.£350 cost for two for one night.

I took my dad down to Dorset for a mid-week golfing break. We stayed at the Habour Heights (now not a Best Western by the way). We had a twin room which was fine. Nothing special. Nice and clean but a bit drab. Could do with a bit of a refurb I think. The view over Poole Harbour was stunning though. It is really what makes staying in this hotel. The restaurant was surprsingly good and the hotel staff all willing and friendly enough.
If you are lucky enough to have travelled a bit and stayed in some nice places, this hotel isn't going to blow you away but you could certainly do worse and we would probably stay there again if we were in the area.
