We stayed for 2 nights at the Harbour Heights, Sandbanks over a weekend in early March. We prebooked on line using laterooms.com. It may be a mistake to prepay because I've a feeling they put these bookings in the smallest / worst rooms. I telephoned a couple of days before arrival to ask for a quiet room.

On arrival we were given a room with a side sea view (even though we hadn't paid for a sea view). The room was quite small but OK for just 2 nights. Fabulous views from the window looking out of the side of the hotel to Poole Harbour. Unfortunately, we were awoken at 6.55am on both mornings by the cleaner entering the cleaning cupboard opposite our room and bashing around in there, clinking bottles and being generally noisy. We were also kept awake / awoken by the people in the room next to us. You could hear them going to the toilet - paper thin walls. When looking at the fire escape plan we noted that the room we were in appeared to have thinner partition walls on the plan compared to some other rooms. Looks like our room was one large one split into two.

We ate dinner in the restaurant on one night and it was very good, but quite expensive. The bar snacks are much cheaper, but quite a small menu choice. The breakfasts were excellent, again with wonderful views to the harbour.

I complained at checkout about being woken at 6.55am both mornings and the paper thin walls, particularly as we'd telephoned to specifically request a quiet room. The manageress offered to upgrade us to a sea view room with free cream tea should we stay at the hotel again. She also said she would speak to housekeeping about keeping the noise down first thing.

The hotel is in a great location just up the hill from Sandbanks beach and the harbour.

Room Tip: Check you aren't in a room with a partition wall, make sure it's an original wall. Otherwis...

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights mid week and had been promised a room with a view and what a view!! The room was very large with a huge comfy bed the bathroom could do with some updating with weird closing doors but that was made up by the view from our window. We could have also done with a balcony or floor to ceiling windows as well. The location is ideal for a stroll down into Sandbanks and the beach itself. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and had no complaint, very good service and again an amazing view! Breakfast was good though my husband did feel the cooked breakfast portions could have been larger! Second night there was a wedding - people do get married on Thursdays so the hotel was noisy well after mid night and as our room was on the first floor unfortunately we both went to sleep with the sound of the bass. My advise is to check when you book and if there is a wedding to ask for a room further along away from the reception. The staff on reception were surprised when I told them that the music went on past midnight and apologised. We would certainly go back there again. Oh and if you park your car in the bottom car park dont park it under the trees our car was a favourite with the resident pigeons!!

the hotel is lovely, a little tired around some edges perhaps, but spotlessly clean and the hotel team are superb.

My partner and I decided to have a couple of nights away as a birthday treat. The booking was a last minute decision and we were not disappointed. The room was lovely, food in the restaurant was fantastic (ended up eating in there both nights) and the staff very friendly. The hotel is in a great location for both Poole and Bournemouth. We both left feeling very relaxed and will definitely be returning.

Beautiful setting & lovely hotel but a few small mishaps marred the stay.
We booked a room with a sea view but on arrival we were told (by a surly receptionist) that it didn't matter what we thought we'd booked, all the sea view rooms were already booked. The alternative room we were given was very nice and very comfortable - but a bit suprised to see a shower over the bath with a plastic shower curtain....ok, but a bit "3 star" rather than "4 star". Afternoon tea was very nice but our decafinated order was most definitely perfumed assam tea and when we queried the order we were told that it wasn't and that he "would bring the tea bags out to prove they were normal tea bags".....very strange response.
We asked for a table for dinner in the restaurant and were told "it was Saturday" so they were fully booked....no one had advised that we needed to book in advance to eat in the restaurant of the hotel wehere we were staying and we had to quiz the staff to understand what our options were if we were to eat there without going out. One young man did put himself out hugely to try and sort out somewhere for us to eat that evening (the manager just sent a message saying they were full)...we did however eventually (at 5pm) get offered a "last min cancellation" in the restaurant.....
At breakfast the next day all the tables at the windows with the fabulous views had not been cleared so we were offered a table at the back.......instead of them clearing off the most popular tables for us to use. We did also commit the cardinal sin of asking for brown sauce and were told that they had run out.......the couple at the table behind us thought this was hilarious as they'd been there all week and had been told the same thing since they arrived. Lovely hotel, beautiful setting, food at dinner was lovely (once we got our table) & definitely would recommend.....however they do need to focus on the customer & their service a bit more - it feels like they are a bit smug as people are captivated by their setting and views.

Room Tip: I'd ask for a sea view but clearly having done this, there is no guarantee you will get one when...

My partner and me spend a lot of time at this hotel for drinks as it is local to us. Unknown to me he had book us a night there for Valentines. The accommodation was stunning with lovely spacious rooms, a balcony overlooking breathtaking views of sandbanks harbor and beach, a Jacuzzi bath and two sink areas. We wined and dined on the most tasteful mussels, crab and steak I have ever tasted with a relaxing cocktail to compliment it. The live singer who is there every week was the perfect backing noise on top of the exquisite food and helpful staff without mentioning a relaxing sunset view.

All of the managers who were working there on the night personally introduced themselves to see if there was anything else they could do for us in a very friendly polite manor.

A truly phenomenal and magical weekend, on which my partner and I would like to thank the manager David Knight who attended to us and all of his team who were there to make such a memorable weekend away in our local town we would not of had a better experience anywhere else.

Room Tip: Explain what you are looking for and put your trust in the staff.

I booked this hotel through an on line third party company called Secret Escapes, as we love locally I knew of the hotel but had never been there, the vast majority of the reviews on trip advisor were very positive so we arrived with high expectations ..... We were not disappointed it was superb,we booked a two night stay on B&B basis with dinner on the first night, the evening meal was beautiful and service and attention to detail first class, our room was on the top floor with a small balcony and harbour views and was spotlessly clean ( although not the biggest room, still adequate ) we felt so relaxed and loved the surrounding area, we are planning our return already. Fantastic hotel
