“ManUMan - Great Views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

I booked in for two nights and really enjoyed my stay. My room (310) although small, was very comfortable and quiet with views that quite literally took your breath away....!!! The food was delicious and the staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The veranda area overlooking Poole Harbour was unbelievably impressive with the sun setting low in the distance behind the hills positively "carribeanesque" which isn't even a proper word, but best describes the view. The food was delicious and plentiful with lots of choice, although I felt it was slightly overpriced. The only downside to this hotel is the lack of parking space, even if you're a resident at the hotel. The restaurant is very popular so there are a lot of "non resident" visitors, which although fantastic for the hotel, does make parking for residents a bit of a problem. Best tip - Choose a room with a balcony and harbour view - bit pricier, but well worth it.... the views are unforgettable...!!! I'm due another visit to the area soon, and will definitely choose this hotel again....

We stayed for 2 nights at this lovely hotel where the views from the restaurant and the Lounge were spectacular as the the sun set. The room was a good size and was very clean and comfortable. We were seated in the restaurant on time and and the the food and service was excellent. We will definitely be back for another stay.

We stayed here on the weekend of the 16th August to celebrate my Dad's birthday. Our room on the first floor had lovely views and a large bathroom. My parents had the room next for which was larger but the bathroom was much smaller. We had drinks on the terrace and then a meal in the evening in the restaurant. The food and service was superb. Breakfast was freshly made to order and was excellent. During the weekend my Mum and I also used the outdoor pool and jacuzzi at one of the sister hotels, The Haven, and found the facilities to be excellent and the staff welcoming and friendly.

A lovely hotel and makes a change from the normal chain hotels I generally use in the UK.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a sea view room. 106 was good.

My partner and I went for cream tea on the terrace Friday afternoon, lovely spot with far reaching views over looking Poole Harbour. Good value for money but a little tight with the jam. I had coffee which was very good as they use Illy brand which I particularly like. The staff are friendly and helpful, with a prompt service.

Where do I begin!

We were moved to this hotel by The Haven, since our booking with them was slightly fragmented, the our room change had a low level noise, due to the boiler room below and I did not like the frosted cover on the windows.

The Receptionist at the Haven was wonderful and he found us a room with their sister hotel (Harbour Heights) and assured us that this was of the same standard and would therefore not spoil our last night.

We reached the hotel to find music blaring out from the building adjacent to our room. The noise was horrendous, not at all what we were promised and far worse than the low level noise we had moved from!

When I complained to the Receptionist she suggested that people were always made aware when a private function was taking place, hence giving them the choice to book elsewhere. After a heating discussion she assured us that the noise would end at 10.45pm and reluctantly I returned to our room.

In the ten minutes during which the music abated, what I can only describe as the sinking of the Titanic erupted from next door, a Jacuzzi bath had been turned on making the door to our room reverberate. Just as we settled down to sleep, the music erupted again, only this time with more intensity.

When I voiced a second complaint, this time to the Manager, he was adamant that the sister hotel would have been informed and we had accepted the room. His attitude was utterly appalling.

I therefore spent the next hour asleep in our car in the hotel car park. It was the only way I could gain some rest before our drive home the next morning.

How this hotel has received 4 stars is beyond my comprehension, when they treat customers in this manner. Of the three hotels in this chain (FJB Collection), this, is even worse than The Sandbanks! It is a pity that all staff are not up to the high standards of The Haven, where we spent a thoroughly enjoyable 3 days.

Room Tip: The rooms are undoubtedly swish, but they are small and the TV is situated to the right of the room...

Six of us stayed here for my father's 70th birthday. Two days before we were due to arrive, new discovered the hotel had allocated us the wrong rooms. The Receptionist, Dee, managed to resolve the issue and by the time we arrived at the hotel, all was sorted. The hotel is in a beautiful location with great views. We had drinks on the terrace followed by dinner in the restaurant which was superb and great service. Breakfast was freshly prepared with the finest Ingredients. The staff were all very friendly. Overall, a great place to stay - we will go back.
