“daytime lunch”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Having spent the day at the Harbour Heights Hotel at a wedding, my friend and I got to the hotel early so we could indulge in a light lunch before the wedding. It took 20 minutes to just get a menu then another 40 minutes for the food to arrive.
Halfway through the meal I had to go and use the wc, my friend saw another guest from the wedding and went over to say hello, leaving our coats and belongings at our table with our half finished dinner and drinks, we were both shocked and surprised that the staff had cleared everything away!!
Most of the serving staff couldn't even understand what I was complaining about! I did however get a refund after asking several staff.
However trying to lodge a complaint with the Hotel has proved extremely difficult. And when eventually I did get a response it was evasive and uncaring.
I would not in the future eat at the Harbour Heights again due to the attitude of staff at reception, bar and eating area and senior management.
P.M.H.

Having been several times to the terrace restaurant the views are second to none and they get the sun in the evening longer than anywhere else!!! Trouble is you cannot rely on views alone and expect people to pay over the odds for the view!!! £47 for two very small very weak jugs of pimms is disgraceful!!! Anywhere else charges between £14 - 16 for a larger jug. The captains club charges £15.95 for the most amazing white sangria that includes gin, sauvignon blanc and elderberry liquer and it packs a punch!!!! Food is ok but isn't memorable and I have to say it would not be my first choice if it was not a lovely evening and I couldn't sit outside. Staff are lovely and friendly so no complaints there. also given the lovely setting where is the music!!! some Jazz or something, music changes the atmosphere of a place instantly!! Sunday lunch Jazz a steel band anything!! but in the meantime some background music please!!!

Room Tip: haven't stayed there so cant comment

We spent 2 nights here and were pleased with our room and particularly the panoramic view of Poole harbour from our terrace. The room was large, clean and very comfortable with air conditioning which we needed as the weather was very warm. The balcony door opened onto a terrace which was wonderful to sit and take in the view. If I am being picky I would say they need to update the table and 6 chairs! The restaurant was lovely although we only had breakfast, the service was very good too. The reception staff were very friendly and always spoke to us. We had trouble getting wi-fi, which seemed to be an issue as the staff told me they could not get it either! We managed to get parked when we arrived early in the morning and did not move the car as the car park gets busy in the evenings with non-residents as there is no priority for residents. We were very happy with our stay at Harbour Heights.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view with balcony, views are terrific

I have just returned home from
an amazing week in Poole. The staff at this hotel have just made our week, my whole family were looked after by the staff and no request was too much trouble. Food was great value in the restaurant and the views are simply stunning.

Having returned from Jersey to Poole broke the journey home to Northamptonshire by staying at Harbour Heights. I had booked a sea facing room for the night and had reserved a table for dinner in their restaurant. The room was lovely and the view amazing, straight over the water to Branksea Island.
Reception was good on arrival and after a quick change went to dinner, a lovely table overlooking the terrace and out to sea, Janna (?) looked after us admirably. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The best lemon tart I have ever eaten !
Breakfast was excellent and the chef cooked my fried eggs exactly as I like them.
A wonderful one night stay and would certainly stay there again.

Used the hotel in June as a base for our daughter's wedding. Excellent view. Clean rooms. Reception friendly. All goes downhill after that. Tired decor. Food overpriced. Bar staff impolite. Waitresses unprofessional. One of my guests was told to "go and ask that waitress for the set meal price" . Another guest asked for tap water and on being presented with a jug was told " pour it yourself" . The hotel knew there would be 36 wedding guests for dinner on the Friday night. We sat down at 7.30. Main courses were not served until nearly 10pm. The service was terrible.

Stayed here for 2 nights then The Hermitage Hotel in Bournemouth for one night in June 14. Giving both 3 stars, but for very differed reasons. Harbour Heights on the face of it is an excellent hotel with good rooms and a beautiful view at reasonable prices. The problem here is the service and, to some extent, the food. Service in both the restaurant, and by guest services, was Fawlty-esque. Our air conditioning didn't work on an extremely hot day- when we reported the fault, we were told to turn it up- apparently the air conditioning was working in reverse that day (their words, not mine!). Needless to say that was not the case. After lots of back-and-forthing we were eventually given an alternative room with working air-con, and a discount from our dinner bill. Food at each meal was overpriced- £14 burger from the brasserie menu was just grim, and constantly had to physically chase the staff to get attention, on a not particularly busy Tuesday.

Room Tip: If you pay for a room with a harbour view (you should), be sure to request a balcony, else you might...
