“Absolutely appalling”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

We arrived on the terrace tonight to a beautiful sunset. Unfortunately the evening went downhill from there.
5 of us, dining on the terrace. Over 20mins for drinks to be delivered. Food order taken - 5 steaks and 1 soup ordered. 25 mins later rude duty manager comes over and tells us the soup he said he had, infact could not be served outside so we told him to forget the soup. The problems go on.
4 steaks arrived - the waitresses literally had no idea how the steaks were cooked and what was what. 2 steaks ok, 2 steaks very rare when meant to be well done.
Steaks taken back.. 5 mins later they returned.. The duty manager brought them over with the words "your 2 remaining steaks".. Which we replied.. "What about the other one that has yet to turn up?" The man rushed back to the kitchen.
Cut into the 2 steaks. Still red and bloody. Hardly medium.
Duty manager returned. The remaining steak would now be 4 mins, to which we showed him the very red steak. He replied "well I like mine medium so I wouldn't know!"
Ate the rare steak and waited for the 5th steak which arrived when we the other 4 were finished.
Do NOT come here if you are hungry. Location, location, location ONLY!
We will not be returning, shame because the view is just beautiful.

We are locals, living in Bournemouth and went here for afternoon tea with a group of friends before my wedding. The hotel is very nice, the setting is amazing with stunning views over Poole harbour. However the afternoon tea certainly has room for improvement. We had almost a whole terrace to ourselves which was lovely. Our pots of tea came out and the sandwiches, scones and cake arrived on individual 3 tier stands, but we had no plates to put the items on to cut etc. I had to ask for them and even then not everyone got one. The sandwiches were stale around the edges as if they had been left out uncovered for some time, scones, jam and clotted cream were delicious. 3 slices of cake were also on each stand. The waitress was not very polite and did not ask if we wanted more tea or if everything was ok. Unfortunately I would not go back to this hotel for afternoon tea and certainly would not recommend it.

We were booked in Friday 11th July 2014 for pre wedding afternoon tea. We were a party of 10, pre paid. Upon being seated we were asked what tea/coffee was required. Three tea pots left on table with milk. Thirty minutes later we were served with the afternoon tea on special 3 tiered presentations. No side plates offered, no more tea offered, when we were trying to give waitress a drinks order she was heading back inside before we had finished talking therefore upon drinks arrival there was a wrong item. She then proceeded to argue with the lady in our party that it was correct. As she was not understanding English very well we put it down to lost in translation! We asked for side plates and nothing was done with a smile or that it was no trouble. For £17.50 a head we dont think it was acceptable. When one of our party pointed all this out to the general manager after he just shrugged his shoulders. Setting fantastic, staff and management don't give a flying fig! Will not be returning!

Took the Mrs for a treat on a Friday evening, Location was amazing and all staff made sure to acknowledge us and made us feel very welcome.

Saxophonist playing in the background added to atmosphere and was at the perfect volume so that it didn't annoy us.

The Mrs didn't like the Tank with the lobsters and crabs in it, but it was ok....... we just switched seats ;-)

Goats Cheese starter was like a work of Art, and the Duck Main Course was superb.

Normally in these type of restaurants the portion sizes are very small, but we found that we could barely finish the duck it was so filling. It came with dauphinoise potatoes and honey roasted carrots and Parsnips. (And the Jus was Incredible, tasted so meaty it was like there was 15 ducks in it)

Dessert was Sticky Toffee Pudding, which was nice but nothing too groundbreaking after that duck.

Would definitely return for a treat

Neil.

Had a lovely evening sat out on the terrace, beautiful views watching the sunset. There was live jazz being played within the hotel bar which you were able to hear outside whilst enjoying the views. Staff were very friendly and even brought out blankets for when the sun had set and the temperature was cooling down, allowing us to enjoy the views for longer.

Having spent the day at the Harbour Heights Hotel at a wedding, my friend and I got to the hotel early so we could indulge in a light lunch before the wedding. It took 20 minutes to just get a menu then another 40 minutes for the food to arrive.
Halfway through the meal I had to go and use the wc, my friend saw another guest from the wedding and went over to say hello, leaving our coats and belongings at our table with our half finished dinner and drinks, we were both shocked and surprised that the staff had cleared everything away!!
Most of the serving staff couldn't even understand what I was complaining about! I did however get a refund after asking several staff.
However trying to lodge a complaint with the Hotel has proved extremely difficult. And when eventually I did get a response it was evasive and uncaring.
I would not in the future eat at the Harbour Heights again due to the attitude of staff at reception, bar and eating area and senior management.
P.M.H.

Having been several times to the terrace restaurant the views are second to none and they get the sun in the evening longer than anywhere else!!! Trouble is you cannot rely on views alone and expect people to pay over the odds for the view!!! £47 for two very small very weak jugs of pimms is disgraceful!!! Anywhere else charges between £14 - 16 for a larger jug. The captains club charges £15.95 for the most amazing white sangria that includes gin, sauvignon blanc and elderberry liquer and it packs a punch!!!! Food is ok but isn't memorable and I have to say it would not be my first choice if it was not a lovely evening and I couldn't sit outside. Staff are lovely and friendly so no complaints there. also given the lovely setting where is the music!!! some Jazz or something, music changes the atmosphere of a place instantly!! Sunday lunch Jazz a steel band anything!! but in the meantime some background music please!!!

Room Tip: haven't stayed there so cant comment
