I had my wedding reception at The Sandbanks and although the wedding was amazing due to the fabulous location, two things spoilt it. Firstly our Honeymoon Suite (which had an amazing view of the beach) was directly next to my future-in-laws room!! Which as a newlywed is not exactly romantic or private, particularly when your in-laws decide to throw a mini family party in their room after the wedding had ended and with paper thin walls, listening to your husband's grandparents is a definite mood killer!
The second most important issue was that I had a wedding post box that my guests could put their cards in which was in a private function room. However, that night the staff took our wedding post box to "put in the safe" and we later found when we went checked out and went home with our presents and postbox that somebody had tampered with the post box (which prior to this I had secured tightly) and stolen not only some sentimental wedding cards but they contained money inside them. After calling the hotel very upset and distraught, the hotel was not very helpful. I later found out that the postbox hadn't even been put in a safe but left on the floor of the Front of House office!!! Didier the Front of House manager was very unsympathetic, cold and acted unprofessional. Dorset Police were very helpful and understanding. Sebastien Chene, is worth his weight in gold and is the one shining star at the hotel, he was our wedding co-ordinator and he was upset to find out this had happened after his shift had ended. However, I never got my money back or even an apology or a follow up investigation regarding the stolen money. My words of advice for anyone planning to hold a wedding/wedding reception there is to not let your guests give presents or cards unattended and to find our what rooms your wedding guests are staying in!
Apart from that the food was excellent, wedding fron start to finish was wonderful, beach is perfect backdrop. But our beautiful
day will always be slightly tarnished by this.

I only stayed one night here with my girlfriend, but was pleasantly surprised when we were given an excellent sea-view and balcony (which the website said we wouldn't get at the rate we booked for). The room was smaller than some other hotels but perfectly adequate for us. Yes, it was in need of a little spruce up, but it in no way bothered us.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to try out any of the other facilities but would stay there again (especially when comparing the difference in prices to the other two closest hotels.

Room tip: the Higher floors on the south side have lovely sea views.

We stayed here for around a half hour! We paid for an executive room as a treat, but when we got into the room it was so dated and certainly not worth the extra money. The armchairs in the room were grubby, due to their age.
The view was great, but clearly there is or about to be an update/renovation project. The room we had certainly was in need of this. I felt that maybe a section of the hotel may have had some renovations already, but we didnt get to see this.
The staff in fairness were very helpful and transfered us to another of their hotels in the group in Sandbanks.
Stay at 'The Haven', its far far nicer.

Room tip: Ask for a renovated one, with a sea view.

Used this hotel as a base for a stay over in Sandbanks. The hotel itself was clean and tidy, the rooms were adaquate with the upgraded view and balcony as ordered. It is evident that this hotel is in need of a good makeover, and is getting one in winter months. But dont be put off by its need of a spruce up!

I had a one night stay at the Sandbanks hotel. It was for business, so I wasn't there for the enjoyment of the surroundings. However, I found all the staff very friendly, the room was huge and had all the amenities that I needed. There was a sign in the lobby saying that all the rooms were getting new decor.
I really don't understand the miserable reviews that people are putting about this hotel. It's a lovely building with an amazing view in one of the most expensive pieces of real estate on the south coast.
Breakfast was lovely and served very quickly. We didn't eat in the restaurant because it was very quiet, but we were given some excellent suggestions by the girl behind the bar.
