“Perfect place for a family break with friends.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

We stayed as a family for 3 nights inc New Year's Eve.
I had read some positive and some negative reviews and can see where everyone is coming from.
Yes the hotel is a bit dated but it is clean and the rooms spacious and comfortable.
Considering they were fully booked during the period it never felt over crowded and the staff were excellent ,a real credit to the hotel especially the restaurant manager who seemed to be on duty 24//7 and always With a smile on his face.
The kids loved the hotel loads of organised activities.
But what makes the difference is the location just beautiful.
Go for a harbour view room with balcony it's a more interesting view than saeview.

My partner and I booked a secret escape to this lovely hotel on sandbanks for a post Christmas refresh before work on Jan 2nd. The hotel is lovely, room was fab, two balconies overlooking the beach, nice big room with a side lounge/dressing room and big bathroom. Room was very well presented, the carpets were a bit on the dirty side from foot traffic in and out to the balconies.

The hotel was extremely busy, and I have to say, overrun with small screaming children and their loud shouty parents.

The receptionist was lovely, the bar and restaurant staff seemed a little challenged by the sheer
volume of people, it was like mid summer!
We only ate breakfast and it was not an enjoyable experience. Packed, tepid food, a scrum to get to the toaster, long wait for the pastries.

We did enjoy our short stay and we found the hotel to be good value at the secret escape price, I am glad we didn't pay full price as the breakfast experience let the whole thing down.

Flooded bathroom on the first night, bath filling up with water from blocked pipes. No room for residents in the restaurant (which actually was a result as we found Harry's bistro and loch fyne restaurant close by) Kids running around everywhere and the bed was so uncomfortable that you would have got your money back with a premier inn and to top it off the bar serving snacks was advising that there was a 25 minute delay on tea and coffees as they had nobody to make them, a joke! No it was the truth, Michael Mckintyre would have a complete shows worth he had stayed here, never again!

We spent 4 days here including the Christmas period. Our booked accommodation was a de luxe double room. with balcony. In fact we had a lovely suite which appeared to have been completely refurbished together with a long balcony and containing everything that you would expect to find in a 5 star hotel. The staff were truly exceptional, friendly, professional and
most of all always looking for more ways to take care of us. Located on Sandbanks beach it is as perfect as you can get for a holiday hotel by the sea. The weather was for the most part awful
but it didn`t matter such was the comfort and consideration we found. All in all e had a most relaxing Christmas holiday looked after by the most attentive and considerate staff.

Room Tip: If you wan a bedroom with separate sitting room, dressing area and super bathroom/shower plus excep...

Attempted to have a coffee here on Boxing Day. It was a beautiful day so thought we would sit on the terrace. It was quite busy at the bar when we ordered at 12.00. We were told it was a 20 minute wait. We were still waiting for our order 45 minutes later. They seemed to only have one waiter bringing the drinks out - he was having trouble finding the tables that had ordered. It was chaotic at the bar and they were obviously struggling to cope. We had had enough so asked for a refund. This also seemed to be a problem. When they managed to sort this out, I was handed my card with no apology. I was really annoyed by now with their attitude and mentioned it to bar manager who struggled to apologise and only did so after I prompted him. Not good enough Sandbanks Hotel!!!!

We had our Christmas party there on 21st December and quite a few of our friends stayed the night along with ourselves. The reception staff were friendly and the room, although dated was large with a huge comfortable bed and sea views.

As other people have mentioned the room was boiling, uncomfortably hot, we had to keep the window open all night which wasn't ideal as there was a storm outside. But overall the room, despite the outdated furniture was fine and I wouldn't mark the hotel down just on this.

The food was good - this was a Christmas dinner so the portions weren't huge but this seems to be the norm for most hotel Christmas dinners. The breakfast was excellent, buffet style, lots of choice and plenty of staff about clearing plates and topping up teas/coffees.

The biggest complaints were the price of the drinks, over £7 for a glass of wine and the pretty miserable bar staff who were less than efficient.

Room Tip: We were in room 232 which was on the top floor and had great views looking out to see.

ou would probably think that you were in the middle of Sudan on a July afternoon in your room. It is so hot. I checked the radiators and they wasn't on so don't know what It is. The heat is also in all the corridors and the restaurant. Now logic would state that it is probably going to be 'warm' in the restaurant, but not unbearable. The bed was ok, left side very squeaky (room 122). The view, the staff and their attitude you really can't fault. I can honestly say that I wasn't looking around for the 'tiredness' of the decor that some reviewers are talking about and didn't notice any problems. The hotel appeared clean and well presented. I would go as far to say the appearance was better than at the Haven... ;)
