Just returned from the Sandbanks hotel. Whilst this is a stunning location the hotel was not so good. Rooms were fine, staff friendly the food in the restaurant was way below par so a bit disappointed as we were expecting better. The outdoor area was good and the beach second to none fantastic for kids. The jazz cafe next door was a treat and the food very good.

Just got back from a 3 night stay at sandbanks.
4 star rating - I don't know how?
Corridors to the rooms are a tired and tatty maze that seem to go on for ever
When I arrived at my room I was greeted by an equally poorly decorated double room. I paid extra money for a sea view which I got, but viewed between scaffold poles outside my balcony! I admit there was a nicely worded generic note left in the room explaining external works etc etc, but I feel this should of been explained to me before arriving to give me a choice and not disappointment ! Down to the bar area to be met by a busy wedding party sharing the hotel bar, reception and terrace facility's
Which meant although segregated the wedding guests spilled into the general ground floor areas leaving no room for me or my family to sit inside and eat around the bar etc. To my surprise the 3 nights we spent -there was a wedding every day ! Meaning staff were very busy, tables not cleared from mess as over stretched staff struggled to cope.
I feel the hotel is trying to have there cake and eat it!
by catering for lucrative wedding parties they are putting there general over night guests sray that they pay good money for on the back burner
When you consider for 2 rooms
Bed and breakfast for 3 nights the cost was £1,400 !
Just didn't feel I had any value from the stay. Fantastic location but that's it .

This hotel is in a fantastic location and the food is good. The basic rooms are not four star by any means. The corridors in some parts of the hotel are shabby.
If you are in a basic double room, expect three star ish and you won't be disappointed.
Other people in basic rooms were also disappointed.
I would go again but upgrade.
Book for dinner in advance otherwise you may not be able to set at the hotel if it is busy!

We went to the Sandbanks Hotel as non residents and used the leisure club and had lunch, all the staff were very friendly and Hotel was clean, it was very pleasant and good atmosphere. The price was good unlike there sister Hotel, The Haven, which wanted double the amount of money , because (I was told) it's Bank Holiday weekend !!! Worth a visit.

We arrived knowing that we were way too early for check in. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, as were all the staff. She did all the paper work, had our luggage brought in and said that it would be taken up to our room once it was ready. She also said that while we waited for our room to be ready we could start using the hotel facilities including the heated indoor pool and gave us a pass key to get into the pool and the gym.
When we did get into our room we were not disappointed. The room and bathroom were spotless. We had a room with a sea view on the third floor. The lift only goes up to the second floor so there is a flight of stairs to walk up. We pretended that the walk up and down would compensate for the excellent meals we were eating.

This not an International anonymous type Hotel, thank goodness, but a reasonable and solid place.

Arriving and entering the hotel we were quite happy with what we saw and the way we were received, as our room was some distance away our bags were quickly taken by a very pleasant and helpful young man. The room was at the end of the Hotel but it was an adventure to find our way back to reception and better on the way back.

Having travelled quite away and after perusing the menu we decided to book to stay for dinner, after a rest and a couple of drinks we entered the dining room to be greeted well and shown to an very acceptable table. By this time the room was quite busy with a party and others who seemed happy and contented and gave the room a little buzz. Starters were ordered and a bottle of decent wine (perhaps a bit expensive for what it was ... but so !!!) these came nicely and attractively served, so followed the main which considering the amount of people there showed some style and individual attention by the chef's.

Good room overlooking the sea with large bed, sofa, table and chairs a decent bathroom with his and hers basins ... clean and well equipped.

Breakfast is served for several hours giving everyone a choice of "up and at it" or the lazy ones to chill out. Excellent choice of cold starters or cereals and followed by a good choice of hot "full English" excellent quality and quantity to satisfy the most greedy. We should not leave this room without commenting on the most attractive and excellent staff who go out of their way to help and please.

You could be bored with reading pernickety whinges about decor or items on the breakfast severy but all In all this is a solid excellent hotel for a few days away, or even more.

Room Tip: Sea room are nice but harbour facing rooms display a lot of interesting water activities

We stayed at the Sandbanks Hotel as a birthday treat for my husband and we both found the hotel to be very comfortable. It is a wonderful traditional seaside Hotel with many charming features and real character. Our room overlooked the fabulous beach, when we woke in the morning after a very good night's sleep we could see the sea from our bed. The bedroom was well equipped, spotlessly clean and the bathroom was well appointed. Although there was a private function taking place we were not disturbed by any noise and didn't hear one door bang in the night, which is the usual case in many hotels we have stayed at. There was a very good hot selection of food on offer for breakfast that was replenished regularly. All the staff were very polite and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a seaside holiday in a beautiful part of the country.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front and back both have fantastic views.
