not a good example of uk hotels --lovely location but quite tired especially on sea facing side which i guess will need extra care to cope with the elements
sadly as i get older and having now visited plenty hotels etc. i find that on the whole the state of the "ladies "is a good indication of the care and cleanliness-- the "powder room" here was actually worse than many loos in town centres ---paper on the floor in each cubicle no soap in dispensers on one occasion no paper and hand driers that were almost impossible to work i saw a member of staff using them did she go from there into the kitchen?our friends had paid a lot of money for their wedding there i wasn't going to spoil things for them but i would not recommend ,sorry

Avoid. A real shame considering the great location. Child facilities unsafe and in need of a real upgrade. Food bad menu all unhealthy and well below par. They are really missing a truck here such a shame. Book a local b&b if you can. Much better value for money.

We are and have been regular visitors of the hotel for a number of years.

This year has been a GREAT holiday. The funsters are back at their best, the dream team of Jazz Hands, IBU and bouncy Becky has been great to see with Gemma leading them (the only regret being happy Haley moving to Australia).....the kids have been so happy for the week and even the parents have been getting into the party dances.

This was then combined with some of the best meals we have had in the hotel in all the years we have been coming and really good service particularly from Sergio and Joseph in the restaurant and Carolina and Maddie on reception.

We accept that if you are a hotel snob you can find faults in the decor and hotel setup but if you have a family with children below 15 years of age (we have 4) you cannot beat this. We spent a week at a 5 star hotel in Tenerife earlier in the summer and frankly although that was very nice, modern and expensively decorated, we all voted Sandbanks the holiday of the year by a long way.

It has been great to see so many families we have met over the years this week and this hotel is like a home from home. Well done Mr Butterworth, Ian and team.

We ended up staying at Sandbanks hotel after being unable to travel abroad due to illness. Looking at some of the reviews on tripadvisor we were a bit weary. We stayed in room 108 a sea view room (no balcony) 2 adults and 1 child. The room was a nice size. The room could do with some updating. But the view was fantastic. The service we received at the hotel in
The 3 days we were there was excellent. First night we ate at the restaurant. We ordered food and daughter had kids buffet. After having our starter she became really tired and we had to leave restaurant. I requested for our
Main and drinks to be sent to our room instead. This was done In a
Polite and professional manner. Breakfast was excellent and enjoyed by us all. Also ate at bar and enjoyed the food and service. The bar menu is a little bit limited. My daughter who is 4 enjoyed the kids club and also liked the indoor swimming pool. This hotel is In a
Great location. I found service good and will definately go back. The rooms etc need updating. Also why was fish and chips on room service menu but not offered in bar? Overall excellent 3

We stayed two nights at Sandbanks. We had a family room (one main bedroom with double bed and a side room with bunk beds for the kids). Our room was comfortable and spacious. Our balcony faced out over the harbour and we had chairs and a table on the balcony. The view was stunning as the sunset.

As well as the bed, we had a sofa bed in the room with a table and an additional chair. We opened up the sofa bed but didn't actually sleep on it. My daughter complained that her brother was too noisy the first night but in the end the sofa bed had a very thin mattress so she decided not to sleep there.

The location is the main selling point for the hotel. The room we had was fine - I can see why there are reviews talking about the hotel needing a lick of paint. It could be tarted up a bit but equally that could mean the price going up so I guess it's a question of balance.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and attentive nearly all the time. the only time I felt they could have been more attentive was when we sat outside on the terrace and I could see our food was ready but it took ages for one of the staff to bring it to us (even though it wasn't that busy on the terrace at the time). We then had to send one of the plates back as it wasn't hot enough.

We didn't use the kids club as our kids consider themselves far too grown up for kids club these days but there seemed to be a lot of activities available for them.

I would stay again as the beach is lovely and the breakfast was good.

It's the stunning location, excellent service from the hotel staff and the superb kids club that make up for the fact that this hotel could do with a good lick of paint and modernisation. My son cut his foot on a loose tile in the swimming pool, which I wasn't impressed with. However, he thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of activities put on for children of all ages.
The food was pretty good - although not cheap.
It's also worthwhile knowing you can use the faclities of the other two sister hotels, and there's also 30% off watersports activities, for hotel residents.

Room Tip: Lovely sea views available.

This time was most definitely the last.
We arrived at the hotel, checked in, had the keys handed over to us, and had to fend for ourselves to find our rooms: through the jungle of the kids' club with the organizers and their funky nicknames blaring through the microphones at children a mere few feet away, up the creaky stairs, through numerous unnecessary corridors that would make Hogwarts blush, before finding a hidden set of stairs that finally gives you access to the third floor.
Once you are in your room, you will be greeted by a most pleasant sight: a window with cobwebs that must have been left there from last year's Hallowe'en party and a thick layer of seagull dung. It was the exactly sort of vista I wanted to see after my long drive and did raise a concern: if this is the part they actually wanted me to see, should I fear for my life about eating from the kitchen?
All of the outside hotel bars were closed, which was a joy, lest I should want to soak in the ambiance of this once great hotel outside in the Sun.
My children later got hungry and, after realizing that it's eight quid for a mere cheese sandwich, I had to drive into town just to feed them. I had to do so for every meal as the food looked absolutely diabolical!
After nights were over and my children had had enough of sleeping on a sofa-bed that consisted of three different angles, we were are thrilled to finally be going home.
Upon checking out, we were insulted by the staff members in reception (I can only think that there is a big cross of cultures and loss of translation throughout the hotel, as the manners and etiquette of speaking to guests is abysmal and disgusting).
The part that amused me about the whole trip was when we arrived home, one of my children shouted 'Home! Sweet home!'
