Excellent hotel - lovely food and wine (not too surprisingly!) and the decor is lovely. Definitely the place to stay in Poole. Only drawback is the parking as there is very limited capacity on site and the spaces are tight, otherwise there is valet parking for offsite car parking. Would stay there again if there was reason to visit Poole. No lift in the hotel, just a lot of stairs to negotiate depending on which room you are in, and fairly expensive.

Hotel was not the easiest to find but had stayed once before. You seem to end up on double yellow lines to unload the luggage then concierge parks the car for you in the £10 per night car park. After check-in found myself strolling down the road to my room. The room was OK nothing special but the bed was reasonably comfortable and room a suitable temperature. There was a shower & toilet. The room view was of the road. Following morning I had to venture out in the rain to get my breakfast via the courtyard. Umbrellas were not provided in the room unlike some other hotels I have stayed at where you have to venture outside which in my opinion would improve the quality of stay in a more expensive hotel. Breakfast was average with a reasonable selection. After breakfast I dropped an item on the floor which rolled under the bed. I was non too impressed to find a t.shirt underneath which had obviously belonged to a former guest which would suggest a poor standard of cleaning.

The bad, first of all: Poole was note quite the romantic destination we had in mind. If you've a car to hand it may be much better, but the town itself wasn't quite the quaint seaside town we'd hoped for. Particularly with two days' solid rain to enjoy.

On the plus side, the Hotel du Vin was an excellent choice and took the edge off what was otherwise a fairly dreary weekend. It's not cheap by any means, but the booking process was smooth, check-in no problem at all, and we were given a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room as I'd mentioned it was our anniversary.

The staff were polite and friendly throughout, without being obsequious or intrusive. The room was spacious, air conditioned, witjh a spacious claw foot bath tub in the living room, a small flat-screen TV and DVD player. The bathroom featured a walk-in rainfall shower (very nice). I think the bed was a king size; certainly bigger than a double. Unfortunately the small balcony overlooked the car park, but given that it was an unexpected upgrade I'm not complaining.

We didn't make breakfast — wasn't sure it looked like value for money — but did try, and enjoy, the bar and bistro. Again, not cheap, but both food and service were very good. A bit of a shame some of the other diners didn't make much of an effort to dress for dinner, but overall a nice bustly vibe to the place.

So, thanks to the hotel for being a bright spot in an otherwise rain-soaked weekend.

Very nice, comfortable room and helpful staff. Very good for a weekend getaway. If you are driving, there is a £10 charge a day.

A good surprise is a good hotel
In the old nondescript building a modern luxury hotel rooms in contemporary style, all in the design and the new representation of what must be the hotel. Comfort and style, spacious and comfortable. Service is not very "intrusive," I brought the suitcase itself.
Restaurant interesting style bistro, on all wines from a professional point of view. Breakfast nice and varied.
Pleasant. mpression ,will be recommend ....

The hotel is in a great location within the old town of Poole, a short walk from everything and a 10 minute drive from Sandbanks. On arrival we were given a complimentary upgrade which was a nice touch.

Everything was extremely nice, from the linens to the bath in the corner of the bedroom. Great for a short romantic break.
