Owner description: Splashdown Waterpark is a great day out for family and friends. There’s something for everyone – from big kids to little ones – with some of the UK’s most exciting waterflumes. For the thrill-seekers, brave the Screamer with its sheer vertical drop. Plunge into darkness on the Black Thunder. And hold on to your pants as you shoot down the Spacebowl like a human pinball. Or if that sounds a bit like hard work, just go with the flow on the Mississippi Drifter. There’s the fabulous Little Buccaneers SplashZone with a starter flume, water play area and Buccaneer Bay, our toddler swimming pool. And, on a hot summer’s day, Buccaneer Beach is the perfect spot for a splash with the little ones. There’s even somewhere to play for little landlubbers. We’re open all year with indoor rides in the winter. In the spring, we take the slide outside where the Mississippi pours into the Grand Canyon. And, in May, bring on the awesome Screamer Tower – it’s fluming good fun! What are you waiting for?

“Long queues”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We booked online which saved us joining a long queue to get in. There were long queues for all the rides but after queuing for about 20 minutes we managed to get on the tyre ride, which was one of the few rides suitable for the two children, aged 4 and 6. It was mainly geared for older children with long flumes, but there were two small children's pools. We all felt cold as there was an outside door open and it was quite draughty. There wasn't a pool to retreat to if you didn't want to queue for the flumes - just the shallow pools for the very young children. We felt it was poor value for money for the smaller kids as not much choice of things for them to do, although worthwhile for older kids who are prepared to wait their turn for the large flumes.

“Great, but could be better!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We travelled from Eastbourne for the day just to go to Splashdown . Booked online so no queue to get in.Not too busy when we arrived but soon filled up. The queues weren't too bad though except for tyres and the Dragon's Lair ride. The place was pretty clean overall but the changing rooms are cramped & dated. The outside flumes look a bit tatty and could do with sprucing up and standing on the metal stairs is pretty cold. Surely there is a better covering that could be used. Luckily the flumes are brilliant! Don't forget to go on the screamer !! We spent over 4 hours in there and never got bored. Overall the staff were fine, so no complaints there. Our two [9 &12] said it was the best day out ever, so it must be ok!

“Great, but choose times wisely!”
Reviewed 25 August 2014 via mobile

My family and I went to Splashdown for 2 hours, and loved it! Perfect amount of time to complete all of the rides and redo some favourites.

Great selection of rides, which I think are suitable for most kids aged 8 and up. There is an outdoor part of Splashdown where the two most thrilling rides are: Velocity and Screamer. During winter months this outdoor section will be shut, so always make sure that you don't want to go outside during this period. But if you do want to ride the outdoor flumes, I advise visiting Splashdown during the Summer period.

Splashdown is very popular therefore gets quite busy. However, if you choose your times correctly you will avoid unnecessary queues. I advise going in the morning, and queueing outside until it opens. If this doesn't work for you, the evenings before closing time are also quite quiet.

I dropped of my son and his friend hoping that they would enjoy two hours of fun. I had a call an hour later to say that they had got only been on two slides and had to wait 25 mins each time. At least they were offered their money back. Spend your money elsewhere.

“Very disappointed”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

I imagine this place is ok for older children/teens that are very competent swimmers. It appeared there was what seemed to be a stag type group being rough and loud even knocking some younger riders off their tyres and there didn't seem to be any reaction from the young life guards standing about.
Forget the buccaneers bay it's tiny, shabby and cold dark and depressing. The toddlers pool is like a dungeon with no natural light, staff eventually came and unlocked it for us and other equally disappointed parents, it appeared even their staff didn't want to spend time in there! While I was there a parent pointed out to a member of staff that the fire exit at the side of buccaneers bay had rusted shut.
The entire place needs some investment as it's really tired.
