“Brilliant tour of very worthwhile organisation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

This is an excellent tour to give an insight into the work of the RNLI and how it trains the crews. Highly informative and entertaining guide who obviously had a huge pride and commitment to the lifeboats

The simulator is pretty special as it is a real training tool. Also lots of good lessons for life and leadership in some if the stories told.

You need to book in advance and we called on Monday but could only get a place on a tour on a Thursday. (It may be that residents in the college can get on more easily.)

After the tour we had lunch in the restaurant. Beef curry - pleasant wholesome fare, very reasonably priced.

“Interesting and informative”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2014

What a brilliant place. The tour is an excellent insight into the work of the RNLI and especially the work of the College with lifeboat crew and beach lifeguards. The tour guides were excellent-lots of interesting information clearly presented. The simulator was great to experience and you could really see how crew can train to be efficient in rescue from their work in the training pool with waves, wind and spray too.

“Great experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

This is a really interesting opportunity to find out about one of bravest group of people. The simulator is brilliant - your brain is convinced you are on board a moving boat, and the thrill of "driving" the boat is exciting. The pool leaves you both impressed with the thoroughness of the training regime, and relieved that if you are ever in need of help on the sea, the people who come to your aid have been well prepared. The tour leaves you even more appreciative of this brave charity.
