So it's a summer day, there is a queue for the ferry - what do you do? Raise your blood pressure and drive all the way round, or just grab a coffee, relax and wait? Highly recommend the later - it really doesn't take long!

I love this way of getting from Poole to Swanage, from millionaires Sandbanks you are soon deposited in another world on the other side of the harbour entrance. Visions of the Famous Five stories will come rushing out of your long lost memory to the extent that you will have wished you had brought a picnic and lashings of ginger beer!

Lovely views on the way, but the crossing is so fast there is no time to get out of your car and look around. Some have complained about the waiting time in busy periods. That isn't the fault of the ferry, its just the volume of vehicles wanting to use it.

£3.50 per car is very cheap in my opinion, paid at the toll gate on the Studland side which also means no delays in boarding or getting off.

After visiting Studland or Swanage complete the circle by driving around via Wareham, quite a nice drive and it will make you appreciate just how much time and miles you will save by using the ferry.

I love taking the ferry from Sandbanks and then driving along to Swanage - especially if you planned to goto Sandbanks but the car park is full. In peak season you can wait over an hour just to get onto it - which takes the fun out of and ends up wasting most of the day. But when it runs smoothly without traffic jams along the one way system waiting to get on - it's great.

Very quick and efficient. Only 3 minutes from one side to the other and all for only £3.50 for a car. Quicker than driving round the harbour. Kids enjoyed watching it going backwards and forwards too.
