This used to be a great pub, but sadly no more. It's rather grubby and unwelcoming theses days, which is very sad. It's in need of a major refurbishment.

Walked in to the pub and it did not feel very welcoming at all. On the plus side there was free pool which helped with one star. Could be a cracking pub with more training

First visit to Lord Nelson pub - typical sea front pub doing good food - had to wait a little while for food to come but that was because it was so busy on a very sunny day and it is right opposite where the boat trips to Brownsea Island sail from. Food was excellent when it did come and service was friendly and helpful.

This is the third time we have been to The Lord Nelson whilst in Poole visiting family. Cannot understand the previous comment about staff being unwelcoming. We always find them most helpful and friendly. The pub has a relaxed atmosphere and we always enjoy looking through the menu, which has a great selection of snacks and main meals plus very reasonable offers for pensioners. The 'pensioner' in our party particularly enjoyed her starter prawn cocktail, it being a proper traditional prawn cocktail. My gammon steak was cooked perfectly and came with eggs, chips and peas. We think the prices are very reasonable considering the location. Would also like to comment on the spotlessly clean ladies toilets. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, overlooking the Quay, should the weather be nice enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch after a stroll round the town and a look at the Boat Show.

The beer is always good, always pleasant in the bar, very friendly and very popular, with lovely views of the quayside and close to the shops.
